nashguy Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 Hi,The red circle won't go away on my utorrent. When I check my port forwarding, I get the message that my port does not appear to be open. I have setup static IP on my computer as 192.168.0.136. The port in Utorrent and in my router settings is 53624. When I run the port checking test, it checks for the port on IP add 24.61.88.4, which is the IP address of the ISP (used by the router). I am able to run utorrent but it is extremely slow. Once in a while the speed goes to 100+ but most of the times its in the 20-30 range. Can anyone please point out where I am going wrong? My windows firewall is turned off. Thanks!
polish_pat Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 who is your isp? and does you connection vary with the time of day...ex: between 6pm and 12am it is the slowest?
nashguy Posted February 6, 2008 Author Report Posted February 6, 2008 Hi,I am using Dlink WBR1310 and my ISP is Comcast. When I pause the download and re-strart, I see speeds of around ~25kb/s but then it starts going down. I have my firewall turned off, static IP set up, DHT turned off. I also tried changing the ports every few hours and I see a good speed (for a few minutes) after this. I suspect that my ISP may be controling data flow but the persistent red circle makes me think that my setup may not be correct. Thanks!
Firon Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 You can't turn off firewalls. They must be configured properly OR uninstalled.
