jamestroy Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 While running the program, it always disconnects my Internet connection, which I have to unplug/replug my cable modem in order to get the connection back up. I am hardwired directly. I've spoken with my nephew who has the same program, and he states he doesn't have this problem. What could the issue be?Thank you,James~

obmar Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 I have the same issue:Details -Ever since upgrading to 1.7.7 utorrent has begun crashing my network connectivity.I will be downloading a torrent, and randomly (it seems) I will lose all connectivity - I have a cable router and resetting it will restore the connect. The problem is I cannot leave it running overnight - inevitabally i wake up with very little progress as it will have lost connect.I have throttled my max upload down - can someone tell me what changed in these latest build to cause this? I was rock solid prior to these upgrades...I installed 1.8 beta 8205 and I am having same issues.I read some things to do in that link above, but they seem extreme... like disabling UdP... is there a known issue? Or better- is there a way to tell exactly which remedy of those is the one I need?thanksObmar(UPDATE) - lowered my connections by half in preferences - will that lower my speeds as well?(UPDATE) - ok lost the connection again... never happens immediately... not the number of connections then.... so
kiirastacia Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 I had the same problem; every ten minutes or so my connection would crash. It had run fine for months. I removed/disabled all security protection and firewalls. It didn't help. I added an exception in WinXP firewall. Didn't work. I wasn't using a router, just the AT&T cable modem. I had to continually reset my modem. It only happened when Utorrent was open. I even downgraded the program to no avail. My Fix: I selected a random port that I manually forwarded through the firewall (had to reinstall it, too much of a security breach, lol). Set up a static IP, I was using dynamic. Hooked up a router with that port forwarded and I have no problems at all. Still not sure exactly what fixed the connection, but rumors abound that AT&T is cracking down on P2P.... Kiirastacia(Although I still haven't upgraded back to the newest version; so that might help, also.)
Ultima Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 Try the suggestions in the link DWK posted up above...?
