Update sites/seeders

Hi,

I use http://www.thepiratebay.org/user/nlx_78 as 'the' site to upload my stuff. Now i just was wondering.... I seeded my latest movie last night, then it kept on seeding with just me as seed. So it showed both on that site as well in my uTorrent client only (1) seeder. Which is logical

After work i came home. Still 1 seeder while i had a ratio near 2.000. But right now i left my house for like 10 minutes and it went from 1 to 18 seeders. So..i was wondering. Does uTorrent reads the info from the site itself? Cause over there i went from 1 to 18 seeder within those 10 minutes as well. As does it shows in my client. It went from 1 to 18 seeders in that short while.

Normally spoken i'd think it should go from 1 to 3 to 4 to 5 to 8 etc. In steps. Maybe skipping one or two seeders. But still not from 1 to 18.

So what i think is that thePirateBay updated the site and uTorrents reads it info from there...but am i right?? Could also be that indeed 18 people received the full movies within those 10 minutes.

The reason i'd like to know is that i then know when to upload the next one.

1. first rule, you are not allowed to talk about file sharing here period.

2. from the technical side of things, the numbers you are seeing are most likely caused by the DHT

when you list to a site, it repots you, you read it back it reports 2, and it just kinds of goes on like that in ping pong.

that's why some sites, and some torrents they do not allow DHT, cuz it just inflates the numbers with bogus info.

That depends on the tracker site ... some have different update times (30 minutes or so), so while you have been outside, there was an update and in the past (30 minutes) there joined 18 ppl - why not?

DHT updates in shorter intervalls, so that would be the way you said: from 1 to 18 in steps ...
