dominosultan Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 MS updates applied over the weekend killed my P2P downloads through utorrent (running XP SP2). Now although I may have downloaded a couple of items over the last few years whose legality might have been a bit shady in a copyright infringement sense, the vast majority of my downloads relate to ebooks where the book is now out of print. So, when I was getting a bit frustrated that my downloads had stopped working just imagine how pissed off I was when I backed out of the Microsoft updates and everything just started working again. This brings a whole new meaning to "anti-trust"; I just don't trust Microsoft any more. Ubuntu is looking better every day!
Ultima Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 Uh, Windows Update doesn't do anything to block P2P. The only remote possibility is that you have your TCPIP.sys file patched, and Windows Update reverts the limit (certainly nothing to do with blocking P2P). If that happens, and you have µTorrent configured badly, it might give the illusion that Windows Update causes P2P applications to fail.
jewelisheaven Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 ... You've got no idea what you're talking about. Ctrl-P -> Advanced -> net.max_halfopen What is it? Is there a *, if so, press the RESET button and say OK. I don't know what you mean by "blocked"..... If you're referring to PG2 or the like please refer to blocking is useless.
