sibellius
Okay a little backstory. I was having the issue with the torrents killing the connection speed on the whole network. I set up everything per the guides on this site, still had that issue. Finally resolved it by turning on the scheduler and limiting the upload speed, which for whatever reason increased the download speed and stopped the network issue. I let it return back to normal as to not be leeching. Now the problem I'm encountering is when I download the torrent files from the torrent search engines to add to Utorrent, after so many, the links on the websites begin to break. It will take a ton of clicks on a link for it to go through, some sites will display awkwardly, and some just wont display at all. If I let it sit for a few hours, it'll work again until I reach whatever magic number of torrents and then rinse and repeat.Tech specs:utorrent 1.7.7global max: 375max per torrent: 100upload slots: 4max number of active: 4active dls: 3max upload: 60 (limited to 10 during the day to solve network speed issue)
jewelisheaven
What browser are you using? Limiting the upload below "normal" is likely keeping you from hitting the cap from your ISP What's your speedtest upload rated speed? Have you tested the download with OpenOffice?? Remember the more active torrents and the more active peers the more overhead. On a low bandwidth connection it will make more difference. It shouldn't be over 3 or 4 KiBps even at peak times with those settings... You can check current usage with Task Manager. If you set it to 60 I'd bet you see consistent upload > 65000 bytes per second?
sibellius
Upload speed is at 548 Kbs. I haven't tested the download with OpenOffice, could you point me in the direction to learn how to do that?So what corrections should I make to try to resolve this issue? Thanks for your help
jewelisheaven
Uhm, with that you should be running @ xx/512 speeds, which caps uT upload at 47KiBps. 60 is 125% of that.
sibellius
Okay so I'm now using the 512 settings and turned the scheduler off. Right now I have a bunch of dead torrents it seems in there that its trying to download. Even with no dl/ul activity going on, it still significantly slows down my connection. What could be the issue?
jewelisheaven
If uT says there's no network activity going on, there isn't. And the How-To doesn't say turn the Scheduler off, it says turn off DHT because that creates connections. I'm thinking you have some other Incompatible Software or your router holds onto connections too long. What kind of router do you have? Also could you make a Process Explorer DLL list for uT and copy-paste it below? Go to sysinternals.com, download it, then run procexp.exe, Ctrl-L, Ctrl-D, click utorrent.exe, Ctrl-A

Ultima
Awkward display can happen if the webpage doesn't finish downloading, and the browser redraws the page with whatever data it currently has. The webpage not downloading properly can happen because of bad settings.Check the first link in my signature regarding interrupted connections. I'm not too confident that you followed the suggestions in the link, considering the fact that you had entirely improper settings to begin with. sibellius
I went through all those settings one more time and made sure there was no incompatible software, no firewalls. I did everything for the section under slow connection/offline trackers. Now the trackers go offline intermittently and the dls have completely been stopped.*EDIT* Okay so after about 20 minutes the trackers came back up and the DLs began at normal speeds. Not noticing any slowdown yet, so far so good.
jewelisheaven
That definitely sounds like ISP interference if during those downtimes where you can't get torrent traffic but HTTP internet traffic through your browser happens no problem. Switeck
I believe I've heard that Cox throttles BitTorrent now...much like ComCast does, only possibly worse.
