zorro56 Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 i've just started using utorrent, i've always used bitcomet. however one of the sites i use has banned bitcomet and suggested utorrent. great. i've downloaded 5 torrents ok. however now i get access denied. can't understand why. i've managed to d/l the torrent i want from another location using bitcomet, therefore it is not the file that is corrupt. i will use utorrent all the time if i can get it working properly. d/l ratio is 0.6 does this affect it. any help will be appreciated.oh by the way it has full access thru mcafee and i've removed google and msn.

Ultima Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 O23 - Service: NMIndexingService - Nero AG - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\Lib\NMIndexingService.exeNero = stupid. If you want to get rid of the error, then either find a way to disable the search/media indexing service, or uninstall Nero.
jewelisheaven Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 ... yea I dunno, if disabling Nero Scout (that's the indexer) doesn't work, i'd vote for checking mcAfee settings, and checking a Process Explorer DLL list for utorrent.exe for Site Advisor interference.
zorro56 Posted February 17, 2008 Author Report Posted February 17, 2008 took nero scout out, uninstalled mcafee, reinstalled utorrent, reinstalled mcafee. still no joy. don't see any site interference, but not sure what you mean by that. utorrent has full access to the net. according to mcafee.my other client is working fine, no i don't run both at the same time.any other suggestions would be appreciated. getting frustrated now.
jewelisheaven Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 To make a Process Explorer DLL list, download it, run procexp.exe, Ctrl-L, Ctrl-D, click utorrent.exe, Ctrl-A and copy paste it below.Truthfuly I'm always wary when osmething says it's uninstalled. If you edit your post above with a NEW HJT log to be sure the other stuff si uninstalled someone else may be able to pick up from here :/The whole thing with "access denied" errors, is that uT expects to have access to the file. When something else opens the file for exclusive access (happens when scanning or indexing usually) uT spits out the error message. Do you get access denied errors on ALL torrents, even ones from OpenOffice or Slackware? The reason it's suggested to remove nero scout and exclude your uT download directory from media players and search indexers is to avoid these kinds of access permission problems.
Ultima Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 Are you uh... downloading the file using BitComet simultaneously?
zorro56 Posted February 18, 2008 Author Report Posted February 18, 2008 ultimo, as i said in the above post no i don't run both together, anyway i don't know what has happened but i must have done something right, it seems to be working ok. the files i was trying to d/l stopped workin straight away. so i tried them again and managed to get to 0.01% which it wouldn't do before. i have also tried another file which d/l ok. so maybe it was the reinstall of mcafee that did it. a friend of mine said he had to do this on a laptop when it was installed on his network. anyway, indexing is off and nero scout is uninstalled. i'm getting good speed as well. i used the process explorer utorrent comes up purple (packed) is that right? if it carries on goodbye bitcomet. thanks for the help from you both. nice to know there are clever people out there. cheers zorro56i'll be back if i get more probs i can't sort out.
