dragonoids Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Hey guys,I am having a little problem with utorrent. I have configured the settings to optimize the down speed like many others have but it seems that the orange ! triangle doesn't change and my down speeds are capped at 7kbps. I am currently using a 2wire 2700HG-V2 router and have tried to port-forward the port 45682 but it doesn't work... What should I do?
jewelisheaven Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 Hmm, I do recognize 2Wire, have you tried searching this forum for other user experiences. I'm not sure any one of them is on your SPECIFIC model but I do recall certain things needed to be done. There are two issues you're suffering from 1) slow speed and 2) inability to let peers connect to you. The first can be verified it's not the torrent with OpenOffice Torrents, but the second requires some more information for you to give or to look through the available information. Here is the relevant Portforward.com page http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/2wire/2700HG-V2/Utorrent.htm
dragonoids Posted February 26, 2008 Author Report Posted February 26, 2008 Hey jewel,Thanks for the prompt reply. I have just reset the port forwarding to both TCP and UDP and now the port is forwarded correctly. However, the speed is still capped at 10kbps. The OpenOffice torrent was able to download only at a max of 60kbps. When I checked if the port was forwarded properly with the green triangle, it still says:Checking port 45682 on 165.21.154.113...Error! Port 45682 does not appear to be open. Please see www.portforward.com for more information about how to map a port. Please make absolutely sure that PeerGuardian2 or Protowall is allowing utorrent.com (72.20.34.145) in either of those programs. Those of you using ipfilter.dat should make sure the list does not include the website's IP. After making sure of this, re-run this test by refreshing the page (F5).Sorry for the trouble caused.(I have looked through other posts and tried some of the advices like the TCPview and Process Explorer)BTW, what information would you require from the Process Explorer as well as the TCPView?
jewelisheaven Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 :/ Curiouser and curiouser. Well personally I can use http://www.canyouseeme.org and http://www.utorrent.com/testport.php?port=YOURPORTNUMBER and https://www.grc.com/x/portprobe=YOURPORTNUMBER to test open ports, since each uses a different method of checking. If the Peers Flags column shows peers as Incoming that means it's forwarded properly usually. The usage of TCPView helps verify port usage and connections are either in- or out-bound. Process Explorer is used in the event there is some Incompatible Software installed causing uT to become unstable and freeze/crash.
dragonoids Posted February 27, 2008 Author Report Posted February 27, 2008 Hey jewel,I've tried all three. The first one said that the port is not open since connection timed out, the second says that it isn't open. I noticed that the IP address is different from mine and the third one says that it is open.ThanxRegardsClement
jewelisheaven Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 It's not your LAN IP it connects to. It is your external WAN IP... which you should see under your 2wire setup. The 2wire essentially creates two "zones" if you will... the internet or WAN zone, and your internal or LAN zone. It's usually for this reason routers are used, to mask or control a specific area of computers at one point of connection to the internet. The information about Process Explorer is covered toward the bottom of the How-To. Were you able to apply the setup instructions from portforward to your hardware?
dragonoids Posted February 28, 2008 Author Report Posted February 28, 2008 Hey Jewel,Prior to this post, I have already followed the instructions on the portforward website to forward the port for my module of 2wire router.Thanks.RegardsClement
