Firon
Kill the task, and try deleting settings.dat in %AppData%\uTorrent
Elitie
now everytime i doubleclick it it gives the error msg of :the file 'c\windows\application data\utorrent\setting.dat' was damaged/missing. splintax
Had a similar problem a while ago, it's usually related to weird settings with the program. I fixed it by running a registry clean with RegSeeker, but since there are no registry entries for µT, what Firon said would be a good start.Failing that, I would suggest that you delete the whole uTorrent directory.. Firon
Whoops. I meant, you have to delete settings.dat AND settings.dat.oldsorry.

Firon
Hm... restart the computer, then delete resume.dat, resume.dat.old, resume.dat.new (if present), settings.dat, settings.dat.old, settings.dat.new (if present), and see if it works... Elitie
eek..it still doesnt' workshould i just delete the whole folder?
1c3d0g
Yeah, delete the whole folder and start again. Also, when you delete everything, click on CCleaner's "Issues" tab and run a scan to get rid of all the junk that's left in your Registry. When you restart, do the same scan again and see if it comes up with anything new. Hopefully this will help you with your problem.
Elitie
that didn't work either now it just asks me if i want a shortcut on the desktop everytime i clicked it...
1c3d0g
What are the options that are presented to you from that window? [OK], [No], [Cancel]? And what happens after that dialog? Does µTorrent crash or simply refuse to start? :|
Elitie
it just asks me yes or no. i clicked no a couple of times and the last time i started it, i clicked yes and nothing happened. no short cut appeared and it didn't start up, and stops asking me that everytime after i clicked no once. but it created an empty utorrent folder back in the application data folder. if i delete the folder it'll start asking me that again. so now it just doesn't start
1c3d0g
Damn...that's just really annoying. As a last resort, 'cause I'm running out of suggestions here, try creating a blank dht.dat, resume.dat and settings.dat file and place them in %AppData%\uTorrent (remove the existing .dat files if there are any). You can create these files simply by right-clicking on your Desktop ▶ New ▶ Text Document (make sure to rename the .txt extension to .dat). When you have placed these blank files in the %AppData%\uTorrent folder, try starting up µTorrent... :|
Firon
you only have to make a blank settings.dat

Switeck
Have you tried a disk cleanup as well? You may need to also COMPLETELY empty C:\Windows\Temp....either that, or this problem screams "VIRUS!"
