Error[F] when adding a torrent through WebUI

i seem to be getting Error[F] when ever i add a torrent through the webUI. This happens only when WebUI is used to add the torrent. I tried both the file and url option, in both cases i get the same error.

When i add the same torrent directly into the app then it seems to work fine. Can someone tell me as to why this is happening.. Am i doing something wrong???

You'll need to look at the uT GUI to see what the error IT SHOWS is. You can double click on the right margin of "status" column to auto-expand it.

Uninstall Roxio, or disable its indexing service.

how do i disable the roxio indexing service.... and how does that effect uTorrent...

i dont want to uninstall the same as it is the only software i have that i can use to write dvd's with.. please tell me how to disable the indesing service and does it effect the disc writing in any way...

How does it affect µTorrent? The search indexer is locking files, which causes µTorrent to be unable to write to the file. This, in turn, causes the "Access Denied" error.

I don't know how to disable it because I don't use Roxio. You might find an option somewhere in the Roxio preferences -- perhaps called something like media/search indexer.

Edit: Specifically, the RoxMediaDB9.exe service is what's causing problems. If you can't find any option to disable the indexer, then you might also what to try stopping the service from running at startup, either in msconfig's Startup tab (after killing the process from Process Explorer), or in Start > Run > services.msc (stop the service and set its startup type to "Disabled").

stopped the services but im still getting the same error after trying to add a torrent thro the webui. do i need to change the default location, where the files are saved or something like that 'cause i dont see the creation of the files at the "containing folder"

I don't know, really. It was just a random suggestion, just to make sure the service is indeed stopped When you start the computer back up, check whether or not RoxMediaDB9.exe is still running.

Oh, uh, if µTorrent is downloading to its CWD (current working directory), and the CWD is in a restricted area (like Program Files), µTorrent might have some trouble with access.

Why would it be there >< Wouldn't it be the last place you set the download of a file to?

You can check the CWD with Process Explorer. double click on the utorrent.exe process

CWD != last used directory

The CWD is passed to µTorrent by Windows when µTorrent opens, and is the path from which it was executed, which can be different depending on how µTorrent was executed (if through the browser, it might be the browser's CWD, it might be the browser's executable's path, I don't know -- it simply depends).

When I tested it it was equal to the last used directory. When you double click on the process and go to the Image tab, where it says "Current Directory" is used by WebUI.

And that's the problem -- I never actually researched how the webui decides its download directory Basically, I'm not sure if it's downloading to CWD, or last used directory (though I had the impression it was the former).

And "current directory" doesn't match my last used directory (and naturally, wouldn't, based on my previous description). The CWD can also be passed into µTorrent via the "Start in" field for shortcut properties.
