imperia Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 I am trying to download episode 6 of one movie. utorrent is downloading 350mb file and its seeding from it but I cannot watch it because its not standard .avi file in its standard episode6 folder. Instead I got only ~uTorrentPartFile_F0A6D814.dat file in the Movie folder. Any ideas?
jewelisheaven Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 You skipped files in the torrent under Files tab yes? That is what the partfile does. To keep you from getting extra files which you don't want it stores this extra data in the partfile.
imperia Posted February 27, 2008 Author Report Posted February 27, 2008 I don't understand. Yes I skipped files. I want to download just some files, not the whole torrent. isn't that possible?
jewelisheaven Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 The completed file you downloaded is where you told uT to save it. right click on the torrent in the main pane, and select open containing folder. I'd imagine it doesn't open the folder you think it does.
imperia Posted February 27, 2008 Author Report Posted February 27, 2008 it does open the folder, but its empty except one big part file 360mb.movie is 360 mb big.it does not extract it. its stays in part file.. but i am seeding...
jewelisheaven Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 ... the ~utpartfile is 360 MiB?Are you sure you skipped all files BUT the #6 you want to watch? If you set #6 to normal or low or high, i believe uT will pull the collected data out of the partfile and create the .avi file you're looking for.
Ultima Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=14699Basically, it's a known issue, but we still don't know exactly why it occurs. Changing file priorities doesn't fix the problem. Can you post in that thread instead, along with a process list? While you're at it, if/when you post in that thread, can you also check to see if you skipped files as makitso did?
jewelisheaven Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 ... The setups must be to blame somehow. Go Go Ultima forum thread magic juju <subscribe>That is definitely odd since I regularly set parts of piece-identical multifile torrents to do not download and the partfile is created, then I delete it when i piece in the missing files. I must say I don't use the "appent !ut" option at all though.
Greg Hazel Posted March 2, 2008 Report Posted March 2, 2008 This issue is caused by skipping files while bt.compact_allocation is enabled. Unfortunately, this causes uT to misplace the data. Either disable bt.compact_allocation, or do not skip files.
