boo
http://rss.slashdot.org/Slashdot/slashdot?m=2481An anonymous reader asks: "A few hours ago, the European parliament accepted a proposal '...on the retention of data processed in connection with the provision of public electronic communication services...'. Summarized: any data (internet connections, traffic, email, file sharing, SMS, phone calls) of 450 billion people of Europe has to be collected by telcos, to be used by governments in their fight against 'crime and terrorism' ... oh, and child porn, of course. In Germany, over-the-sea reports are limited and usually do not include the latest developments in law and order, but since Slashdot has readers all over the world, I would like to ask: how is the status of YOUR country in terms of anti-terrorism-laws, observations and such? Any recommendations where one can still live free and unobserved in a non-nanny state?"Damn capitalism and power hungry politicians If this continues, EU can become a Third Riech

hofshi
Well in Israel, where I'm from, you don't really feel like you're being watched all the time, eventhough the terror hasn't skipped my country... When you go to a shopping mall, or a restaurant, your bag will be searched by a security man, but that is generally accepted by all people as a necessary mean to prevent suicide bombers from entering these places.Where are you from, boo? splintax
think you mean a fourth Reich! edit: i'm not a neo-nazi or anything, but a lot of people throw a lot of "bad" things under the nazi banner. They really weren't that bad in this respect compared to other nations at the time. (Not that I'm defending the holocaust or anything else that they did.) hofshi
"They really weren't that bad" ?????As someone who lost 90% of his family thanks to the Nazi regime, I really can't understand how people can be so detached and say such things! 1c3d0g
At least he doesn't deny that the Holocaust happened...unlike our Iranian "komrade"...that bastard needs to have his lights wacked out!
splintax
They really weren't that bad in this respect compared to other nations at the time.I'm sorry about your family, but that really has nothing to do with this. I didn't say that the Nazis didn't do bad things, it just frustrates me that people will ascribe anything "bad" to Nazism.
hofshi
you really should find better things to be frustrated about.
chaosblade
The holocaust is sore point in the history of the world, Not just the jewish people, splintax.I somewhat understand your claim, But since the nazi did exterminate one nation and most of a second, Im very reluctent to believe there were worser atrocities then their actions. boo
think you mean a fourth Reich! If things really would go bad it would be named and called forth Reich, but it hasn't happend (yet...),so instead you compair with something from the past and which people know about, therefore I said Third Reich instead of Fourth Reich.
