jewelisheaven
Last option... increase cache when thrashing. This means you're probably also getting "disk overloaded" c/o FAQ .... If you go into Device Manager (Windows+Break -> Hardware tab) find your hard drive controllers. Check "CURRENT transfer mode" What does it say? linsoo
Thanks for your help.I just find that Current transfer mode is Ultra DMA Mode 5 in my computer. And I couldn't find 'Disk Overloaded' in the status bar.
jewelisheaven
I don't know then Are you using an older / full hard drive? What security software do you have installed? Do you have a defragmenter?
linsoo
My Notebook is DELL D630 with 2GB RAM, I bought it one week ago.I installed Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0, and I've disabled the virtual memory. What about your ratio of read from file? Ultima
Can you... clarify the question...? I'm not seeing what the problem is here.
linsoo
In Read StatisticsFrom Cache = 80%From File = 20%I think it may be not normal. When I uses BitCommet before, only 1% or less were Read From File directly.
hermanm
I wouldn't trust BitComet statistics. No client can guess every read request ahead of time. Its just not possible.
jewelisheaven
... Increase Ctrl-P -> Disk Cache to your liking. Note that that will increase uT RAM usage by that much. The more used for cache, the less the disk is accessed.
Ultima
You'll notice that linsoo hasn't even gotten the least bit close to the 200MB already set as the cache size.@linsoo: The read cache usage is purely dependent on the swarm. If peers in the swarm request a particular piece of data that µTorrent doesn't already have in memory, it's obviously going to have to read it from disk. There's no way around this unless µTorrent simply reads EVERYTHING into memory (not exactly efficient). If you care that much, I suppose you can always try disabling "Remove old blocks from the cache" as well.
linsoo
Thanks a lot.I got it.
jewelisheaven
So removing old blocks changed the behaviour to your liking?
Switeck
Under normal operation, uTorrent should use the entire RAM cache for torrent files....It just may take awhile to use all 200 MB if you're only uploading at <10 KB/sec.
