Rebound
Hi, I searched but I couldn't find anything on this particualar subjectMy internet provider gives me 25gb of downloads AND uploads (So if I have 12.5 gb of downloads and 12.5 gb of upload then I get capped) a month so I need to limit upload speed otherwise I will get capped (I'm in a family of four so there are a lot of other downloads going on) whenever I limit the upload speed to 1kb/s or 3kb/s the download speed always goes to about 10kb/s but when I put the upload to 50 kb/s the download goes a lot higher, is there a way to get these same speeds without having to upload so much?I'm running utorrent 1.7.7thanks in advance
jewelisheaven
http://xrl.us/DownLimitYou can use http://xrl.us/Scheduler to keep uT active only during certain hours to keep that quota lasting longer. You will want to check your ISPs AUP/FUP to see if you get any "free time" or "upload free" hours. For those times you can setup uT as http://xrl.us/SeedOnly
Rebound
Does that mean if I put upload to 8kb/s it should be fine?
jewelisheaven
Re-read the link. When you see download limited you are stuck to ~ 30 KiBps
Rebound
Where is the status bar? Sorry Im a bit of a noob
jewelisheaven
No prob. As the menus say status bar is that thing at the bottom of the uT GUI. You can enable/disable it with F6.
Rebound
Okay, thanks alot for your helpEdit: Im on 1kb/s upload and the speed is getting limited for download but it doesnt say anything in the status bar
jewelisheaven
That may just be the peer you're connected to... I'm not sure what's going on. In 1.8 doing the same low limiting per-torrent shows "limited" download for the affected torrent... but for a low global upload it should show download limited in the lower left If indeed your global upload is @ 1, then something is off if it's not showing the widget. Rebound
Okay, this is getting really bad, it's at the point where my download can never go above my upload, so if I want my usual 60kb/s download speeds I need to set upload limit to 60, I might aswell be on a private tracker or something where you need a good ratio because my ratio is 1.5 at the moment >.>
jewelisheaven
If the test torrents OpenOffice torrents or Slackware torrents show normal download usage... it's the swarm. Nothing you can do.
