IdentityX
I share internet with 3 other people (through a router) and whenever uTorrent is running, it slows down the internet like crazy. The speed it DL: 4 mb/sec and UL: 600kb/sec, which is reasonably fast. When I leave uTorrent on, it downloads a total of 20kb/sec and upload 20kb/sec. While it's on, one of the people I share the internet with does a speedtest, and it reads a download speed of 40ish kb/sec.What's wrong?
jewelisheaven
What is your Speed Guide (Ctrl-G) setup to? There's a procedure outlined at Ultima's How-To for troubleshooting.

jewelisheaven
Well if you have 10 Mbit UPLOAD then no.I doubt you do though. If the numbers you give are speedtest you need xx/512. EVEN IF your numbers were throughput that puts you @ ~ 32 Mbit down and 6 Mbit up... helluva connection you got there. So change to xx/512 see if that helps. If not, keep reducing upload by 10% in Ctrl-P -> Connection until uT stops lagging the connection. Afterwards you can increase the upload and decrease connection load by 10% (truly > 20 peers per torrent is .... not exceptionally helpful) until you see dips in the Speed tab meaning you're bumping the bottleneck for your connection. Switeck
With Bell Sympatico in Canada, I'd think even xx/256k in Speed Guide (CTRL+G) might be as fast as you can possibly go. And even then, the global and per-torrent max connections values NEED to be lowered to probably 60 and 40 each...or lower.
Older_Sam
Looks you are in Canada, the Mother F**kers are throttling the bandwidth for whoever uses Bit-Torrent:http://newteevee.com/2008/03/27/cbc-torrent-caught-up-in-isps-bittorrent-throttling/
