sighkick
If the original Seeder of a torrent has created the torrent for a private tracker and turned DHT OFF, is it possible to change this status so that a group of Peers can continue to share when there are no Seeds?Although the original torrent was created and uploaded to a private tracker, the torrent was also uploaded to a public tracker as an (EXT) torrent including the PID.Would be great if we could change the status instead of hanging around like dorks waiting for another seed. GTHK
Nope, removing the flag would change the infohash and turn them into two different torrents.
sighkick
Thanks GTHK for your prompt reply - not the reply I was hoping for though Shame we can't share externally when the seed(s) is AWOL !
jewelisheaven
Add another likely tracker to the list... If enough people on the swarm add that tracker, you'll still connect.Edit: Alternatively, use a tool like Ultima's Bencoded File Editor to remove the private flag from the torrent and re-add it to uT. This will create a new entry... repath it to your existing data... add likely public trackers, and you'll have 1) the same data available to download and 2) be able to enable DHT.This is ONLY viable if the torrent would be popular to announce on public trackers IN THE SAME FORMAT. The infohash is dependent upon the info dictionary. Therefore ONLY if people have distributed the same torrent data in the same format WITHOUT the private flag set WILL THIS WORK. sighkick
That sounds like a long shot. I have been looking for another source of this particular file but so far, no luck.Still 23% of 700M is not all that much really. I will give it a few more weeks and then ditch it if nothing out there.
