amoe89 Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 When i want to create a torrent, utorrent asks in what directory the file is in. When i click the add directory button it shows me only my desktop and none of my other directory's. See imageUtorrent version: 1.7.7 stableOS: vistathnx
jewelisheaven Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 Try changing Ctrl-P -> Advanced -> gui.compat_diropenThis has apparently been fixed in 1.8 beta. You can check it out in the Announcements forum. You can even use it self-encapsulated so it doesn't mess with your current settings.
amoe89 Posted March 30, 2008 Author Report Posted March 30, 2008 By changing you mean setting it from false to true, because that's the only thing i can do in the advanced tab. updI tried but it didnt work :S
jewelisheaven Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 Did you try in 1.8? There are some.. peculiarities with Vista, which cause this. It's been reported previously but I don't know if there is a fix for 1.7
amoe89 Posted March 30, 2008 Author Report Posted March 30, 2008 no i tried with 1.7.7 stable but im dowloading from a private tracker, and i read somewhere that i need to ask them if their tracker is capable of downloading with 1.8
jewelisheaven Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 You won't ACTUALLY be USING uT 1.8... just open it self contained, try adding your torrent... verify the problem doesn't exist. If it does check if gui.compat_diropen fixes it. Please report back in any case
amoe89 Posted March 31, 2008 Author Report Posted March 31, 2008 i downloaded 1.8 and i didn't have the problem with it. But how do i open it self contained, if i have 1.7.7
jewelisheaven Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 Click the link self-encapsulated... do what it says. Basically all you need to do is put your "test" 1.8 in a separate directory... I name mine "beta", make a blank file called settings.dat, make a shortcut or run "path\to\utorrent-1.8-beta-9272.upx.exe" /RECOVER and you're good. Notice how the /RECOVER it outside any "" for the pathname, if required for spaces or non-ASCII characters.
amoe89 Posted March 31, 2008 Author Report Posted March 31, 2008 yup it worked, thanks for helping me with your rapid responses (H)
