hofshi
you are probably missing a codec to play the file. VLC has built in codec while other players do not. try installing a codec pack like k-lite codec pack and see if that solves your problem.

hofshi
maybe the restore point was prior to the installation of that codec?I hope it works out..
splintax
looks like a corrupted download to me..
hofshi
It's probably not a corrupted d/l since according to the post it happens on more than one .avi file.
hofshi
@j1: you can use GSPOT to determine if you have the proper codecs for this .avi file. you can get it from here:hxxp://www.headbands.com/gspot/download.html
splintax
Umm, if it was a codec issue, I'm pretty sure that VLC wouldn't display this message since it relies on libavcodec to output video, not directshow codecs or anything else...have you tried just reinstalling VLC? Firon
he said he could ONLY play AVIs with VLC. Nowhere else would they work.
