Switeck
You rolled out the welcome mat, but failed to lower the drawbridge or clear the minefield in front of it. ...And still not getting visitors. Your modem may have a built-in mini-router or firewall that needs to be configured or disabled.Your anti-virus software might have "internet security" (read: software firewall) that also needs to be configured or disabled. BDKblackbelt
The only anti-virus software that i have installed on my computer is trend micro-anti-virus ans Spy Sweeper. As far as I can tell from reading neither has a built in fire wall...
Switeck
That leaves possibly your modem or Windows XP/Vista's firewall as possible stoppers. It is even possible your ISP firewalls your connection by default. It protects their customers from some virus attacks...and those that need otherwise may be able to get unfirewalled just by asking.Have you asked your ISP if the connection is firewalled/shielded or NATed? BDKblackbelt
I think my problem is that when i set my static IP it didn't change my external IP.For example when i go to run>ipconfig i get a 192.168.1.XXX IP address, whereas when I go here http://www.canyouseeme.org/ i see a different IP address. The IP shown on canyouseeme.org is the one that uTorrent says the port is not open on.
Switeck
uTorrent checks your internet ip, not your LAN ip.If you port forwarded correctly, uTorrent should manage to connect to you through your internet ip.
