Crashing 5-10 minutes after start.

Hi, I'm kinda new with torrents and all this but I've managed very well for a month already, everything has worked fine until today... I leave my computer on and go to school with utorrent on, come back from school and everything is working fine, I turn of uTorrent because it slows all online games, after a while I decide to play an offline game and turn uTorrent on again, then, when I'm back again on my desktop after playing, I notice uTorrent is not running for some reason, I run it again and it does something I think it didn't do before: checks the files (not all of them though) and does it kinda slowly too. After it has checked the files it runs normally for about 5-10 minutes and then crashes, always. It happens every time now, after the almost exact same time. The thing is I really didn't do anything special today, didn't install anything new or anything. The games I played couldn't have caused it because I have done the same before with no problems.

I tried to find similiar topics but didn't find any with the same issue. I hope you would be so kind and read all of this and give a newb some help. ^^

EDIT: Oh and I am using WINDOWS VISTA.

If there is a crash dialog... which option do you choose? Also can you go to %APPDATA%\uTorrent , look for the .DMP files and compress them all into an archive, rar zip 7z your choice, then upload the lot to mediafire.com and paste the link here?

Additionally could you look at the bottom of How-To for Troubleshooting for creating a HijackThis and Process Explorer logfiles. Then edit them into your post below?

Asfar as the rechecking is concerned, how are you closing uT? If there are in progress jobs when you close it, on a restart it rechecks all active files. You can STOP all running torrents prior to closing to stop this OR you can enable Ctrl-P -> Advanced -> bt.graceful_shutdown which keeps uT open as long as it needs to. Are you sure your uT is configured correctly for your connection... nto too much upload for instance... it shouldn't mess with your gaming as much as that.... does the slowdown still happen if say you configure Ctrl-P -> Scheduler for OFF mode?? "white blocks" in the timeframe.

For the crash dialog, there is none. Most of the time I only get the vista's own message saying "uTorrent stopped working... trying to solve problem..." and then all i can do is press the "Close program" (nNt sure about the translation there, my version is Finnish. But sometimes I get something like "uTorrent crashed, unable to generate crash dump." (???)

I couldn't find that %APPDATA% and the .DMP files at all, could you be a little more specific for the newb here.

The rechecking must be happening because of the crashing (duh, it didnt happen before the crashing, and i couldnt figure that out), thanks for solving that out for me.

As for the online games slowing down, I haven't really configured the uTorrent settings at all... It hasn't bothered me really since I'm not that hardcore downloader but I'm downloading more and more all the time so it might get tricky to fit the gaming in there if it always slows down (WoW latency changing from 90~ ms to 1000+) . :< I'll try that Scheduler OFF mode thing once I get the crashing to stop. I don't know much about connections but I know enough to see that I have a fast one.

In the meantime, there have been problems with xfire_toucan_30635.dll Xfire Toucan DLL Xfire Inc. 0.00.0000.0000 which is the xfire in game messaging. It has been reported to them for ~ 6 months I believe. It's some problem with intercepting messages. If you turn it off, or the whole thing off the crashing should stop.

Indeed, the rechecking is a pain especially on single disk systems... the more active you are on it the lower the throughput, so I wouldn't keep so many torrents active... 1 or 2 maybe until this is solved.
