j42
Soo i have this really disturbing problem.i finish downloading files and it shows 100% and done. after some time though (can't tell exactly when, since my computer is running 24/7) utorrent decides to tell me either: "Error: The system cannot find the path specified" or "Error: Element not found"okay no biggie i think and force re-check them. this is where it gets wierd it shows me from 3% up to 22% or even 97% everything, just not 100%.again i go, hmm wierd and check if utorrent is going for the right directory. and it does, the files are there, they work great, just utorrent does not recognize them anymore.i thought it might be itunes so i started to watch what exactly i did with those files it won't find anymore. most of the time i used em with foobar, could that cause a hiccup?it's not the disk either since i already changed it once and it's still the same. i even copy paste the files to other directorys and force recheck is still showing the same percentage.bt.compact_allocation is set to false and the files path is not longer then 255 characters and it's not happening to all my downloaded files. i really don't know what to do anymore.thanks for your help cheers
jewelisheaven
Are there any injected processes/dlls in utorrent.exe ? You can follow How-To for Troubleshooting to make a Process Explorer log and check for yourself.... You may also have memory corruption. Does it happen on all filetypes or only media files... an easy way is to check Slackware or OpenOffice http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/ perhaps something external is keeping the file from writing out when completed. Also if the file is still 100% while the uT process is up but only gets corrupted AFTER uT is restarted that may also help pare down the responsible causes. Firon
Are you saving stuff to an external drive?
j42
first, thanks for your answers. <3now, i checked the dlls using process explorer and the only thing odd seems to be that index.dat gets listed three times. the problem happens almost only with mp3s and while utorrent is still running. and no it's an internal drive. :/it might help if i mention that the problem just started happening on new files, the old ones are still good and running. thanks and cheers
jewelisheaven
If it's mp3s... you use iTunes or WMP for your media player/library?I think you should post the Process Explorer list (index.dat is fine, looking at the path shows it to be for the temp files), and create a HiJackThis log and post that too. j42
i do use itunes, i don't change file names or other attributes of the files though. it also happens to directorys i haven't even added yet. the last one it happend to i just opend up in foobar once.Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.0 (BETA)Scan saved at 8:30:20 PM, on 4/6/2008Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)Boot mode: NormalRunning processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exeC:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXEC:\Program Files\ASUS\GamerOSD\GamerOSD.exeC:\Program Files\Analog Devices\SoundMAX\Smax4.exeC:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0\avp.exeC:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_05\bin\jusched.exeC:\Program Files\Razer\Copperhead\razerhid.exeC:\Program Files\Logitech\G-series Software\LGDCore.exeC:\Program Files\Logitech\G-series Software\LCDMon.exeC:\Program Files\ASUS\AASP\1.00.05\aaCenter.exeC:\Program Files\ASUS\Ai Suite\AiNap\AiNap.exeC:\Program Files\Analog Devices\Core\smax4pnp.exeC:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD\PDVDServ.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\RUNDLL32.EXEC:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exeC:\Program Files\Logitech\G-series Software\Applets\LCDCountdown\LCDCountdown.exeC:\Program Files\Logitech\G-series Software\Applets\LCDPop3\LCDPOP3.exeC:\Program Files\Logitech\G-series Software\Applets\LCDMedia.exeC:\Program Files\Logitech\G-series Software\Applets\LCDClock.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\isuspm.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exeC:\Program Files\RocketDock\RocketDock.exeC:\Program Files\DAEMON Tools Pro\DTProAgent.exeC:\Program Files\History Sweeper\sweeper.exeC:\Program Files\Spybot - GTHK
Hey! A fellow truecrypt user :3.Moving on, RocketDock is injected, can you disable/remove it temporarily?
j42
ofc i can do that. although you gotta explain that to me, disable it and run all those hijack and process logs again? or disable it and wait and see if the problem is still there? cheerio and truecrypt ftw :>
GTHK
That reminds me, I need to convert my containers since AES decrypting has been improved vastly. Anyway, disable RocketDock, see if there's a problem, if it still does whatever it's doing, new PE log.
j42
it still does it, element not found, files missing from job please re-check, i do it, it goes to 0%. the files are still there but utorrent refuses to recognize it.
jewelisheaven
... if it happens on your obfuscated drives, try it on a normal partition. As i understand that... technique it employs a filter similar to the horrendous software RAID Microsoft implemented into Windows Home Server. If the files are there uT will see them. If they are not, they don't.Element not found means something disappeared....which was expected. Does this happen only on Seeding torrents or on Downloading torrents or both? j42
it happens after i finished downloading them. and i had the same problem on my prior hard drives that were not encrypted at all. just today and yesterday i had to get rid of about 5 torrents where it wouldn't find the data anymore or only parts of it. i wonder what would happen if i would start downloading again after re-check shows me 18% but everything is clearly there? GTHK
Obfuscated drives as in TC encrypted partitions? I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try a regular drive and upgrade TC, I however haven't had any problems with downloading/seeding from such a drive. Also, it works by using a device driver and performs encryption/decryption between a TC partition or file OTF, while the system sees the partition and writes to it as any other. System encryption uses a boot loader.Anyway, a wild guess, have you performed a chkdsk on your drives? Maybe something is up with them, I copied all my data to another drive (imaged it actually), the files gave element not found, a re-check was ok though, drive was messed up because of the imaging program though, ended up reformatting and restoring from backup because of a partitioning glitch that broke everything when I tried to use the last portion of unpartitioned space I set aside for Ubuntu Linux. Point being, I'd try a chkdsk for the hell of it.
