ed_hirst
just got utorrent bout 2 days ago and i have a few annoying problems..first of all i have ben downloading only music, (about 4 or 5 albums so far)and often it will stop downloading (atleast 3-6 times per file of around 12 songs) and display an error message something along the lines of 'the process cannot acces the file because it is being used by another process'.. i have no idea what that means. also i experience slow download speeds and when i eventually recieve the file and go ahead and play it the tracks jump alot. only by miliseconds but very frequently in each track, sometimes as often as once every 5 secons.maybe its just the files that are bad but its enough to piss someone like me (who is keen o good music)off alot... i am currently running windows vista home premium with norton 360 antivirus etc and basically i have no idea wtf is going on any help would be <i>greatly</i> appreciated..thanksEd
GTHK
I'll try to help but one thing, NORTON IS A POORLY PROGRAMMED PIECE OF... crap. That aside, the error indicates another program is screwing with your files as they download. Follow this to get log files, and post it here so we can check for programs that normally screw things up.
ed_hirst
cheers..i don't quite get what those do though or what im supposed to do with them...ed
GTHK
You run the programs according to the guide in the link, and you put the logs here. Then I look at the log to see if you have any crappy stuff on your system that screws things up like this, like Google/MSN Desktop for example, and tell you what's wrong if I see anything so you can fix it. Simple .

GTHK
They are perfectly safe as long as you follow the guide . Also, you should be able to exclude directories from Google Desktop, do that for you download folder. As an aside, does Google Desktop let you create custom tags for files? GTHK
The problem with Google Desktop is it locks the file, preventing µTorrent from saving your data .

GTHK
It looks like Google Desktop is the only problem. You can disable it as a test, but if you want to keep it, you'll need to either disable the indexing function, or add your download folder to the exceptions list.
