Utorrent freezing system

Hi, i have been using utorrent for a while now and it has always worked fine. at the moment, i am living in two places, at home and at university. At home, everything works fine, no problems. however, at university, when i try and use utorrent or any other torrent client, my laptop fully freezes after a couple of minutes. the only way i can get my laptop to respond is to remove the charger and take out the battery and restart my system. is this common because i have heard that some places restrict the use of p2p clients, but why would my laptop freeze over?

any help or comments regarding this issue will be greatly appreciated

hey, thanx for the quick response.

the only thing that is diffferent from when i am at university from at home is the connection type. at home i use my wireless network connection, at univeristy i used a wired ethernet connection.

Well I don't see any obvious problems there. The clb is in \Windows\Registration by default ;)

As far as Window Blinds, you can try turning it off... but I doubt it's causing the freeze. Remember the same setup works on one network but not the other.

Do you start up one of those extra services to login to the campus network? I see some programs you could turn off to try and check... but right now without some extra differences between how you logon at home and at school, all I can suggest is turning off running programs one by one (using start->run->msconfig is easiest, so you kill/close the process and uncheck its setting in the RUN key for reboot) to see when the lappy stops freezing :/
