dolbysnoopy
I saw this on status line today instead of the normal "Network OK" after updating to utorrent 1.3. Is there any wrong?
Ultima
No, it's just informing you that it used UPnP to connect. If you don't like that, you can forward your ports (assuming you haven't done so yet).I think it actually writes UPnP(xxxxx) OK =]
Firon
UPnP(xxxxx) OK doesn't fit in the box, it's nothing more than a cosmetic bug. But it does mean that everything is working.
Ultima
Yeah I know, I just wanted to point it out to dolbysnoopy though just so he knows it wrote OK (meaning everything's fine) =P
dolbysnoopy
I can't find the "K" after "O". And also I find out it uses 2 ports in my router's upnp page. I set utorrent to use 12386 port and in my router's upnp page, it shows 12386 and 12387 (both TCP). Is that normal? I am new in using router and read sth about it on faq. Do I need to set port forward in router too? Since I'm using the router model not discussed in faq.
Firon
Just forward the port manually.
dolbysnoopy
Forward two ports or one port shown in utorrent's network option screen?
Firon
Only the port shown in µTorrent's network options (TCP and UDP).
Ultima
@dolbysnoopy: lol I feel like I've confused you even more. It writes OK, but it doesn't show up because the space is limited (purely a cosmetic "bug," as Firon mentioned above). Just select one of the ports, and copy that into the µTorrent preferences. I think you might want to set UDP ports for that port you select too.
dolbysnoopy
Ultima: I know what you say. Firon: It use UDP too? It don't show up in upnp table in router status. I suppose utorrent doesn't know udp tracker yet although most trackers are tcp.
Ultima
DHT uses UDP for communication, I believe.
Firon
Yeah, UDP is for DHT.And µT's implementation of UPnP doesn't specify UDP
dolbysnoopy
Is the 1.31 b380 removed this UPNP(port) OK? I don't see it after using b380, it now shows Network OK whenever I set Upnp disabled or enable.
Ultima
I'm cool with that -- it just means less confusion, and less worries about a somewhat-glitchy GUI.
dolbysnoopy
But this way I don't know if upnp is setup just right.
Ultima
Well I'm assuming that this way, if it says Network OK, then it's set up fine... otherwise, some error would be thrown... (I haven't been testing the beta's, so I'm not 100% sure on the happenings and whatnot).
dolbysnoopy
But the funny thing is when I try the older 1.3 version, it also shows Network OK. I am SURE it shows UPnP OK with the same settings.
Firon
Perhaps UPnP isn't actually working/being used at all?
dolbysnoopy
Yes, upnp is enabled in router & utorrent, deleted all virtual server settings in router, it should be using upnp to connect, right? Perhaps let me test more time to be sure.
Ultima
That's the only explanation I can see for the behavior too... I turned my UPnP on (just in case), but since forwarded all my ports (router and software firewall) properly, I never see the UPnP(xxxxx)OK message. dolbysnoopy
That might be a bug, I only see upnp ok by chance, most of the time I see network ok.
