narcist
why am i getting speeds that go from 900kB/s to 400kB/s in about one second. My dl and ul speeds ars jumping all over the place, anyone else have this prob?
Ultima
Because µTorren't doesn't average the speeds, so you get the exact speed that it's going at when it updates the display.
narcist
not sure about that as i miss about 400 meg over 12 hours seeding, with bc i used to upload about 2 gig over 12 hours, now its less, and this is on a torrent with lots of leechers. Ultima
The fact that µTorrent doesn't average is the reason you see jumping speeds. The difference in upload amounts doesn't say much -- BitTorrent is a fickle protocol, and you won't always upload the same amount of data in a given amount of time. Firon
Did you even cap your upload? Or do any setup whatsoever? Your upload doesn't sound very spectacular, 2gb/12 hours is about 50 kb/s or so
narcist
no sorry firon it isn't, 1200 kB/s down 60 kB/s up, sorry i live in uk and dont have spectacular upload speed. what does that have to do with inconsistent speeds. tit
Firon
Since your download is so high (20:1 ratio, jebus!), you should probably cap your upload to 40 kB/s or so. You should also consider getting cFosSpeed to help your speeds, since it does traffic shaping and can help increase your download speeds while uploading. narcist
ok thx, i do cap my ul at 40k, but when i am seeding i leave it on max, if i join a torrent and i am the only leecher, my speeds still go wild. ill give cFosSpeed a go. Ultima
Hey, I've only got 5mbps/384kbps here, translating to about 625KBps/48KBps. lol I'd kill for your connection xD

Firon
Unless you have cFosSpeed, QoS on the router, or the pings don't matter, in which case you probably can go uncapped.
