Uzername
I set up uTorrent using this guide:http://torrentfreak.com/speed-up-your-torrents-ii/My average downloading speed is about 30kB/s, which I think is pretty slow considering my maximum download rate is set to 413kB. There is a little green check mark at the bottom of the window so there shouldn't be a problem with the network...I tried downloading Open Office and the speed went up to about 50kB/s but the speeds of all my other downloading torrents dropped to about 10kB/s...Help? GTHK
413/8=~50, are you sure you haven't confused bits and bytes? 8 bits in a byte, so if 413KB/s is actually Kbps, then your speed is correct, either that, or your upload is too high or your ISP's are jerks or you have hardware problems or... What ISP? What service type?
Uzername
No, I don't think I've confused bits and bytes. According to... http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ , my download speed is around 3300kbps, which should equal 413KBps. My ISP is Bell Sympatico, ADSL. jewelisheaven
If the test torrents don't break your "cap" you need to change settings. Since you're on an impacted ISP, try the steps in post #2 of How-To for Troubleshooting you may need to go as low as 30 global to notice the cap removed. :/
Ultima
@jewelisheaven: Just as a heads up... The xrl.us links in your signature lead to unintended sites, almost exactly as DWK predicted (well, just the "redirects without our knowledge" part anyhow). Time to update the sig? Uzername
I've followed everything it said in post #2 of http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=15992 and I tried downloading open office again after making all the adjustments and restarting my comp. The speed rose to about 200kB/s for about a minute and then dropped back down to the low 60s range. It still didn't break my "cap".Any more suggestions? jewelisheaven
Hmmm Well you did increase throughput to 200% though right? 30->60It's possible you can get that bump by artificially decreasing your upload temporarily as Ultima demonstrated in http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=38188 .
