technocrat
Help! My uTorrent speed maxes out at 30-35 kB/s. I compared it to the uTorrent speed of my brother's PC, and his maxes out at 80-100 kB/s. And instead of a green (triangular) icon, mine is orange and says 'no incoming connections'. I tried generating different port numbers above 10000 (w/c was what most people kept saying as most advisable on most forums I've read) but each one of them is always closed. I tried port forwarding but I couldn't go further on a count of I don't know what router I'm using. My Kaspersky Anti-virus 7.0 alerts me about how my uTorrent can't access a connection, and something about avp.exe yadda yadda. How do I fix all this? Thanks. I'm still a beginner at all this (as you can tell)
jewelisheaven
Check out http://utorrent.com/guides.php more specifically http://utorrent.com/setup_guide.phpBe sure you have a forwarding rule setup DIFFERENT from your brother's computer. If you don't know how, ask him. ALSO you two should not be setup at the full line UPLOAD if you plan to torrent simultaneously. ALSO be advised multiple torrenting sessions can also cause more problems with hardware.

GTHK
Did you forward a port to your computer? Also, from the alert you're getting, it sounds like you have Web-scanning, that component is crap. Kaspersky might actually be scanning your connections, and might be mucking it up. technocrat
i remember my brother teaching my how to port forward. unfortunately i forgot how. can you help me? and, i can try disabling my Web Anti-virus. i'll be in touch with what happens. thanks. GTHK
Kaspersky is kinda crappy in that, when you disable something, it doesn't actually disable. Not when I tried it anyway (it said the firewall was disabled, but still firewalled µT). Also, I found it lagged my system by about 700 milliseconds when browsing folders. For portforwarding instructions, pick your router.
technocrat
is it possible for a PC to not have a router? because i don't think i have one. err. sorry, but i'm pretty new at this.
GTHK
You port forward in routers, though they aren't required, I prefer 'em over software firewalls. Look at your modem and whatever is connected to it, if you can't figure out what's what, post the make and model, for example, my router is a Linksys WRT54G, my modem is a WebSTAR DPC2100, right on their stickers . A4-tje
what happens if you exit Kaspersky (for at least 20 minutes). is your speed higher than?
GTHK
Exiting Kaspersky does NOT remove its hooks, last I checked anyway. Uninstall it, your license data should stay saved. If µT works, you can re-install it, with the custom option. Post the name of each component it installs, Web scanning should definitely be unchecked. technocrat
GTHK is right. exiting Kaspersky doesn't change anything.btw, i've uninstalled Kaspersky but my uTorrent still has the orange icon. but i re-installed Kaspersky anyway the way you said.Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 Virus Scan Protection Components File Anti-Virus Mail Anti-Virus [X]Web-Anti-Virus Proactive Defensealso, my firewall is asking if i should continue blocking Kaspersky. should i keep blocking? or unblock? thanks again to all of you

GTHK
Never heard of that in Win XP, are you on Vista?
technocrat
Nope. I'm on XP.Oh and, i don't know if this helps but, my Kaspersky gives this alert about uTorrent not being able to connect to a server or something. I didn't get to note down the no's though. It looked like an IP address (but i'm sure it wasn't mine) or a server-thing (as I already mentioned).
