Not a full logfile. And you're missing Process Explorer's DLL list for uTorrent.exe

If I had to guess right now, it sounds like RAM problems. Aside from the fact XP doesn't run well under 512 megs of ram.... when you recheck do you notice RAM usage in Task Manager go up (Performance tab)? If so, does that RAM appear to be coming from uTorrent (Processes tab)?

That may not be the problem. The RAM usage does not exceed 249MB. I did have re-checks occur in the past so I donnot think that the amount of RAMs is the problem, and WindowsXP runs fine under 512MB, just that it is a little bit slower. You probably only have a posh PC so you had not experience how to have low RAM amount, and what you said is quite a blatant affirmation

I heard of HijackThis before, and I know what it is but I donnot know how to do those actions requested by you, so if you could guide me, I would be thankfull. HijackThis gave me an error when I did the "scan"

Silly me, I got over Process explorer.

HijackThis gives me the same result, nothing in addition (except for changed processed - as I expected)

It's an incomplete logfile for HJT... You did not copy-paste the whole thing.

Unfortunately nothing extra is hooked into uT. This means you ... need to stop all unnecessary processes.

If you don't want to and want to troubleshoot if it's the same type of problem reported with KIS recently...

Use process explorer, right click on the column header up top. Click Process Memory tab. Enable Private Bytes, Private Delta Bytes, Virtual Size, Peak Private Bytes, Private Bytes History, Working Set Size, Peak Working Set Size, GDI Objects, USER Objects.

The important ones iirc are the USER and GDI objects. If you sort by them which program is at the top... or if you wish, you can take a screenshot of that Process Explorer view. Private Bytes is equal to VM Size in WTM, and Working Set is analogous to Mem Usage. I'm guessing/hoping that tamagotchi process is at fault, because otherwise I'd think it's MSN and you'd been running your computer for month(s) without a reboot. MSN loves RAM and to be leaky as it uses IE internally :(

I also have the same problem.

I leave my PC on for days and lately after being on for about a half day it would give me an error: "insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service" in status menu in uTorrent, when I try to open any program such as Mozilla firefox, etc... My whole computer becomes useless as nothing seems to work, not even task manager. The only thing I can do is reboot, and the whole things OK for awhile then happens again after being on for a certain amount of time.

My computer specs: Core 2 Duo 1.86 ghz, 2 X 120 GB SATA, 80 GB SATA, 1gb X 3 of RAM. I have enough memory, so I don't know what's up. I scanned my computer already and nothing comes up.

THis is not caused by Kaspersky, I donnot use it. I tried to re-download a torrent and it started to re-check it`s files. It reaches 99,8% at check and after that it gives me this error. Is there are resolution for this?

Thank-you in advance,

>-Andy-<

This KB could be related: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913872

"FILE_FLAG_NO_BUFFERING" is available in uTorrent 1.8 (currently in beta), if you check "Disable Windows caching of reads/writes". It is not specifically available for full hash check, but it's worth a try anyway. Please, if you can take the chance, run 1.8 beta and tell me if it solves the problem. If not, I will make you a test build that explicity disabled buffering for hash checks.

  • 4 weeks later...

I too have been having problems with this error.

I'm pretty sure it started with v1.7.7 and still happens with the latest 1.8 beta (10198).

When it happens, the following error is logged:

IO Error:1450 line:671 align:512 pos:506286080 count:933888 actual:1

the error and align are always the same. actual is sometimes -99

I have managed to solved it, however, by disabling the write cache and enabling the Windows write cache.

Perhaps there's a bug in the cache code?
