CaptainCool
Me and my friend are both downloading the same torrent, but when I add his IP:PORT manually, nothing happens, I've enabled logging to a file, and utorrent doesn't seem to even try to connect to him.I havn't reached maximum global connections, or maximum torrent connections. I havn't got his IP wrong, I havn't got his port wrong, he hasn't forwarded his ports incorrectly. And even if I did have the ip/port wrong shouldn't it at least attempt connecting? or does it just not log it?I'm using uTorrent 1.7.7 (build 8179)Thanks in advance. DreadWingKnight
Are either you or him firewalled according to the port checker?
CaptainCool
yes, I am, but that shouldn't affect outgoing connections

DreadWingKnight
stop the torrent on both, clear both peerlists, add each other, then start the torrent on both, see if that helps
CaptainCool
nope, didn't help :/edit: I tried it again and it worked, didn't do anything different, wierd...But I get this problem a lot, anybody know why adding peers doesn't always work? jewelisheaven
... Only if the peer is connectable will it "appear" in the list after you add it.Edit: to look at WHAT the connection is doing you'll need to either enable Verbose or Error logging in 1.7. I don't remember which shows ongoing/outgoing connections. In 1.8 it's a bit easier you enable Peer Traffic -> incoming/outgoing connections You can also enable disconnect messages, which tells you why a certain peer disconnected, or didn't connect at all (most common response: timeout).
