computer88 Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 ok i have tired everything to get utorrent working proplery again but to no avail.when i first installed utorrent it worked perfectly. then i installed vmware workstation 6.0.3 and now the ports are not open the windows firewall is disabled and the vmware services are disabled manuley. no matter what i do it wont work. i need to have vmware on the system so does anyone know of this or have a fix.thanks.p.s. this is not a router setup issue.
Ultima Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 Did you set a static IP up for your computer outside of the router's DHCP range?
computer88 Posted April 24, 2008 Author Report Posted April 24, 2008 no the ip has not changed since i set up this computer but i have never had a problem with that.it is defintly a os problem.
Ultima Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 Regardless, some routers have been known to behave weirdly like this (trust me, I've seen my fair share of such reports on the forum). Do try setting your NIC's LAN IP address statically and outside of the router's DHCP range, then forward the port again just to weed out possibilities.
computer88 Posted April 24, 2008 Author Report Posted April 24, 2008 now i want to know why the router would sundley have to have the ip outside the dhcpo range and only do this after vmware was installed.but thanks.
Ultima Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 Well, VMware does install a virtual adapter, which might screw with some settings and maybe confuse the router. Or something.
computer88 Posted April 24, 2008 Author Report Posted April 24, 2008 its really freaking weird. but that is somthing that should be put in the help file right at the top for router configuration.thanks..
Ultima Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 I wouldn't thank me just yet without any confirmation that setting a static IP does in fact help xD
