Accessing WebUI located behind a proxy

My PC on which uTorrent is installed is on a LAN behind a proxy server. The Proxy server (Socks4 on port 1080) is a different machine with a static IP (say a.b.c.d) and has port-forwarding setup correctly to port 34500 (the port used by uTorrent).

uTorrent PC <===Port 34500===> Proxy Server (a.b.c.d) <===Internet===> Laptop

I've installed the WebUI and the PC with uTorrent and the UI appears correctly when I access it using http://127.0.0.1:34500/gui. However, if I try to access it using the address http://a.b.c.d:34500/gui it takes me to a plain white screen which states "User Invalid" without even asking me for my username and password. When I try to access the same address http://a.b.c.d:34500/gui from my laptop using a dial-up connection (the main reason why I set up WebUI in the first place) it doesn't even get that far. I just get a page in Firefox that says that "The connection was reset. The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading."

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

I'm using uTorrent 1.7.7 build 8179, CCproxy as the proxy server and Firefox 2.0.0.14
