blowjoe1
Using latest stabe build after exiting Utorrent, it will not open again. If I restart the computer then run the installer it opens...(it doesnt actually "install"). It will stay open until I close it..Is there any logs anywhere that would give me some Idea where to go from here. Here is what i've tried:Add/Remove programs...does not work I click on the remove button..nothing happensa manual removal, (deleted the u torrent folder), after doing this I can reinstall Utorrent (actually fully installing, it goes the new user wizard etc). It works for about an hour but then if I close the program I cannot open it again. The utorrent.exe is not running either, when I am unable to open it. Please help!! Utorrent by far the best Torrent client, nothing even close. I really dont want to use Azuerus...but if no one h as any ideas what are some other good, light weight torrent clients? Thanks
GTHK
Any incompatible crap? http://www.utorrent.com/faq.php#Incompatible_softwarea) get HijackThis from trendsecure.com, run it, view the log, and post the contents here get Process Explorer from sysinternals.com, run it, Ctrl+D (to show the lower DLL pane), select the µTorrent process from the list, Ctrl+S (and save the list somewhere you'll find easily -- like the Desktop), then post the contents of the saved process list in the .txt file here
blowjoe1
Do you want the PROCMON with utorrent running? I have to restart in order to do that as the issue now is that Utorrent.exe will not start. No incompatible stuff...A side note is that I have used Utorrent successfully for about 6+ months and never had a problem. I have not installed any new software/hardware that I can think of....Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2Scan saved at 6:20:00 PM, on 4/28/2008Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.20733)Boot mode: NormalRunning processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\Program Files\LogMeIn\x86\RaMaint.exeC:\Program Files\LogMeIn\x86\LogMeIn.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\nvsvc32.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\PnkBstrA.exeC:\WINDOWS\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Server\vmware-authd.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\VMware\VMware Virtual Image Editing\vmount2.exeC:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXEC:\WINDOWS\system32\vmnat.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\vmnetdhcp.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\Rundll32.exeC:\Program Files\LogMeIn\x86\LogMeInSystray.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\RUNDLL32.EXEC:\WINDOWS\SOUNDMAN.EXEC:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exeC:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\wcescomm.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Nero\Lib\NMBgMonitor.exeC:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\WMPNSCFG.exeC:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\rapimgr.exeC:\Program Files\Logitech\SetPoint\SetPoint.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Logitech\KhalShared\KHALMNPR.EXEC:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Server\vmserverdWin32.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Nero\Lib\NMIndexingService.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Nero\Lib\NMIndexStoreSvr.exeC:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exeC:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exeR1 - GTHK
And utorrent.exe doesn't appear in the process list once it's closed and you can't open it?
blowjoe1
correct..I just discoverd this only happens with Peer Guardian running..I started Utorrent.exe (by running the install package.....) and got it running. Shut it down and restarted it a couple times...worked fine. Then I had utorrent running, started peerguardian, exited utorrent and could not open utorrent at all after that...weird eh?So I just uninstalled peerguardian, deleted everything I could find..and will reinstallAny alternatives to Peerguardian? I am under the impression its the only app out there
GTHK
Are you running any anti-virus/Internet-security..?
blowjoe1
Nope....I support Enterprise AV software and don't run anything on my own machine at home...I did actually set up 2 Windows Scheduled tasks last month to run PeerGuardian and Utorrent at 10pm every night. I wonder if they are effecting it somehow.Anyways I think I got it working, uninstalling Peer Guardian, deleting all entries in the Filesystem and Registry and reinstalling seemed to do the trick. Thanks for the help.
GTHK
My only guesses are PnkBstrA.exe and the Logitech crap, everything else seems fine. You need PnkBstrA.exe to play a game though, I forgot what.. since you don't have a working setup, can you try the 1.8 Beta in the Announcements forum? I don't know what else to tell you, and if that plus closing those two things I mentioned does nothing, you'll have to wait for someone more experienced in software problems to come. blowjoe1
Yah Punkbuster is need for Call of Duty 4 (among other games) and I need logitech installed to perform advanced key mapping configurations on my mouse...but I think possibly the Windows Scheduled tasks corrupted peer guardian somehow...Thanks for looking at it with me. jewelisheaven
My first and only thought was LogMeIn... you'll have to use Process Monitor to check anything else ... errors for ex:Ctrl-E before you exit uT, exit... then wait for it to disappear from Task Manager, then restart uT (or try to) and then after you're sure it's not going... stop (Ctrl-E) and view the log for "ERROR" messages.
