uTorrent Freezing/not responding

Hi

My uTorrent is acting really strange lately.

It keeps freezing/not responding, and if I wait a minute it will unfreeze, then freeze again, unfreeze, it makes it very frustrating to use...if I click on one of the torrents I'm downloading, sometimes I have to wait a whole minute before any of the information comes up.

Doesn't matter what it is I want it to do, it will take AGES to do it. If I have it in the tray and I click the icon to maximize it, it will take ages to open.

BTW, seems like downloading is fine, it's the freezing that's frustrating.

PLZ help.

If you don't have a lot of memory (like 1GB on Vista) or you run lots of programs, your computer will run very slowly. Can you hear your hard drive working very hard? Your computer might be using your hard drive for extra memory which can slow down your computer a lot if Windows has to do this often.

Awesome. I don't want to jump to conclusions, however that's ALOT of services/processes for Panda><

Start with RocketDock... there's some mention of skinning apps not playing well http://utorrent.com/faq.php so turn it off first to see if that fixes it. Good news, you have Google toolbar but not Google Search :). I would start with turning off/adding uT's download folder to any indexing that's running. It looks like that would be in the "Anti Virus Service" and maybe "Host Service" ... if that doesn't resolve it, I'd turn it all off. You can get the services through Start->Run->services.msc and stopping/closing the running processes via their menu/trayicons/Task Manager should be easy enough.

If you think you turned it all off and it persists, run a NEW HJT log and see if anything relating to panda is still running "you'll see command line c:\program files\panda security..." If not, try uninstalling the whole thing :/ Then if it works you'll have to either choose a new package. Some configurations of programs people already run is @ http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=7862 and many people recommend Comodo or Outpost if you want a firewall. IMO, to be honest you don't need that anti spam engine or that im service (imsvc) or webproxy.... :( More things between you and the internet is more things to get wrong out of the box.

Did you turn off the other programs to see if they caused it?

First get to a point where uT does not freeze (it doesn't freeze on its own).. then proceed to add back programs you turned off. When uT freezes again that's the culprit. Troubleshooting doesn't mean you MUST eliminate Panda off your system (forever)... only for the procedure. Think of it like surgery... except you can put back the panda (your skin) without affecting anything else should it not be at fault.
