LMW 28if
I am trying to download a torrent that has 1 seed and hundreds of peers. When I start downloading I connect to the 1 seed and about 50 peers. I will start downloading at a normal speed (200-300kb) but after a few minutes my download speed will drop and stay between .1kb and 10kb per second. My upload speed stays at a normal speed which is about 50kb. If I stop the torrent and then go restart a couple hours later it will do the same thing again. It is only a problem with this torrent.I am wondering if it is a private tracker but Im not sure where to get authorized to use it.Thanks
Switeck
Is it the same seed or peer you're typically downloading from each time you restart the torrent?
LMW 28if
Yes. It seems to always be the same seed
Switeck
Do you ever download from any of the peers?
LMW 28if
Very minimally but it says im connected to over
Switeck
Must be a strange torrent, but sounds like most of the peers are all stuck about the same percentage completed.Restarting the torrent allows you to sometimes get treated as a "new peer" by the lone seeder...so it uploads something to you so you have something to give to others. jewelisheaven
If the seed is sending data... remember you won't always keep a slot on it. STOP/START it may get you 1 more piece... but it's not really nice to do. Just let it chug in the background... have you thought about lowering your upload slots to increase average throughput per peer? Also lowering connections wouldn't hurt on this torrent... unless the piecesize is small compared to your upload per peer. It's reasonable in my opinion to get a piece in 5 minutes, which for a 4MiB piecesize is 14 KiBps.
