gatley13
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to help my problem with downloading torrents with utorrent? when i place the torrent into utorrent it states that the torrent is downloading however it continues to remain at 0% and it immediately shows as inactive? any suggestions???This just recently started and before this everything worked great. jewelisheaven
Inactive means you're not transferring data. Are you getting a tracker status error (check General tab)? What about peer responses? Are you correctly forwarded so people can connect to you? Is this happening for all torrents? What happens with http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/ ? Switeck
Are you already running too many torrents for your connection? If so, uTorrent (if set correctly!) won't start new torrents till old ones finish.
fatticus
I think this is the same problem I am having.
Switeck
Stop some old seeding torrents then.
gatley13
This is happening when any torrent that I try to use. I try one torrent at a time. There are no other torrents that are seeding. When I checked in the General Tab I noticed this:Tracker Status: host name not foundDHT Status: not allowedAlso I am not sure of what you are wanting me to do with the http:/distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/
jewelisheaven
If you see hostname not found, that means DNS for the tracker is broke. To verify it and OTHER problems do not exist globally on your line, that's what the OOo torrent is for. You can use it to verify 1) speeds 2) connectivity and 3) DNSNormal things which may mess with DNS include firewalls and stagnant servers in your connection properties. "Repair" the connection and/or check your router configuration page to see if they have changed.
gatley13
What do I need to do when I get to the OOo page from the above link??Also I don't know if this means anythingIn Network Connections-Advanced TCP/IP Settings is this DNS server addresses in order of use65.24.7.1065.24.7.11The only two boxes that are checked areAppend primary and connection specific DNS suffixesRegister this connection's addresses in DNS
jewelisheaven
Do those numbers match the numbers in your router setup?Downloading the most recent (2.4.0 english) torrent and start it. This swarm is always-on and always-working.. and as such is a benchmark to test for issues.
gatley13
yes those match as far as I know? where is the (2.4.0 english) torrent found?I see magnet and metalink?under metalink i see where it says 2.4.0 english but when i click on it it sends me to another page that has a long file? jewelisheaven
It's right there on the page.. you see the three drop downs.. you select version, language, os... What browser are you using? The page may not render correctly ><
gatley13
ok i downloaded the torrent OOo 2.4.0Now what do you suggest???
jewelisheaven
Check to see if you get "hostname not found" for that torrent? Is there an ERROR in the Status column, or on General tab -> Tracker Status. Are you connecting to peers?
gatley13
Yes it does say "host name not found"And for DHT Status it says: waiting for announcePeers: 0 of 0 (0 in swarm)What next?????
jewelisheaven
http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=15992 You didn't mention your software firewall/filter/security suite you run. Also did you "repair connection" in the connection properties from the system tray? That will update your DNS servers. You may want to follow the procedure for "HiJackThis" and copy-paste the logfile into here.

gatley13
The online poker is a thing of the past!!!! LOL Anyways I think that I got something going here??I noticed that I had µtorrent 1.7.5 so I removed it and downloaded µtorrent 1.7.7I also returned my internet connections before I downloaded it.I place a torrent into it and guess what, it is downloading!!!!!Slowly however it is seeding and there are peers and everything. So I think that I'm back in business now? I'm keeping my fingers crossed:)Just maybe on last question,How come when your downloading a torrent you can not see everything that is at the bottom of the screen in the general tab? At least it is that way for me?Thanks for you help
jewelisheaven
Interesting about the suddenly working >< Doesn't help if it happens again though. perhaps the firewall needs a rule for the new uTorrent.exe?Hmm, it's cut-off? Move your mouse to the "line" above the tabs, General, Peers, Pieces, Files, Speed, Logger... Click-drag it to resize it vertically
