dr_torrent
WIN XPuTorrent 1.7.7 (8179)I have set up the scheduler to download full speed during my ISP's off peak period. For the rest of the day I am happy to upload (seed) - unlimited ISP upload quota.I have set the scheduler for Seed Only (Holding shift and turning the squares red). However, the incomplete torrents still download, rather than just seed.Is there a way to fix this?CheersDR
jewelisheaven
They download incomplete pieces in the buffer prior to solely seeding. You'll see no new pieces are downloaded in the Pieces tab and once all of them are done (they disappear) you are only uploading.
Switeck
Even uploading takes a small amount of download bandwidth, but the torrent will no longer be downloading more pieces after finishing whatever bits it was working on when Scheduler's seed-only mode started.I typically see about 0.1 to 0.5 KB/sec down while uploading at 40-43 KB/sec. jewelisheaven
The ratio of upload:download when only seeding is something like 450-500:1 . As-in you just break 1KiBps sustained from peer traffic @ 5Mbit upload.
dr_torrent
That's what I initially thought. However it is more than the odd 0.1 or 0.2 kB/s - I ignore these as stated in the FAQ. And the download continues well after all the open pieces should be complete, hours after. The download will drop off from peak 130 -180 kB/s to 20-30 kB/s. Some individual torrents will stay at 5 - 10 kB/s throughout the entire 12 hour seed only time.
jewelisheaven
Well then where's it going? So it shows as noticeable download in the main torrent pane? Click Peers tab, is it coming from one specific peer? Better question: how many peers are you connecting to?
Switeck
Do you have DHT or Local Peer Discovery or Resolve IPs enabled? If so, try testing with them all disabled.
dr_torrent
Switeck, yes all disabled and still occurs.jewelisheaven, for this particular torrent I have 14 to 17 peers connected. A few of the peers share the download totalling a few kB/s (max 2.1 for any single peer)
jewelisheaven
If you have pieces still incomplete they will continue to download. That certainly isn't "normal" behaviour when seeding. Are you sure the data isn't hashfailing?
