mike2587
Hello, after many research in the web, I've found the way to update ipfilter.dat with a script. The URL in the script is http://easynews.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/emulepawcio/Is pawcio ipfilter updating frequently? Thanks allPS:sorry for my bad english
Firon
Using those lists is a dumb idea.
mike2587
Why?!
jewelisheaven
Thanks for searching http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=32299 is the most recent OTHER occurrence of "ipfilter update". The oldest I found was http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=1367
mike2587
This script downloads lists from emulpawcio which offer good lists as bluetack. The ipfilter.dat downloaded from pawcio is 14MB while the ipfilter.dat downloaded with updater is 7MB, hence the first contains more blocks than second. The pawcio ipfilter contains 243000 items while updater filter (from peerguardian site) contains 214000 items. Why is not script good?
DreadWingKnight
which offer good lists as bluetack. So they're total crap just like bluetack's then?Bluetack's lists have a history of being uninvestigated, hearsay-based and otherwise sub-standard. mike2587
I know pawcio and bluetack lists are similar
DreadWingKnight
So the two lists are both equally as useless then.
mike2587
I understand, hence I must use updater (if I want autoupdate) which downloads peerguardian lists?
DreadWingKnight
No. Peerguardian's lists are bluetack lists. The only lists that actually work are ones you make yourself, and they are ONLY good for blocking known hashfail injector ranges. mike2587
Me? Make a list? How can I do it? There would be hundreds of IP that I have to block, how do I know which IP I must block?
DreadWingKnight
Maybe hundreds of IPs that you actually need to block, but they are confined to a small group of ranges. You figure out what ranges by keeping track of repeated hashfail offenders. mike2587
Hence, how I create this list? Help me please, if this isn't a disorder for you.PS:unfortunately I'm a newbbie...

mike2587
Yes, but which ranges I have to block? I have no idea
DreadWingKnight
That's what you need to figure out for yourself by monitoring your logger tab for banned IP addresses that are all in the same range.
hermanm
> Using those lists is a dumb idea.mike - that's just their opinions. If you want to use an IP filter list, go ahead and use one. You might not be able to download and upload to IPs that are friendly, but you provide yourself another layer of protection that was not there before. There is also this one that works pretty good:http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=32299
mike2587
Must I see the log everyday to see all banned IP and add them every time to the block list? How long it will take? It's an hard work...None? Where are u go?
Switeck
You could get uTorrent to save its log to a text file and do quick searches on it for banned ips. It's even possible to disable most of the logging stuff BUT banning of ips.Really, a repeat ip that is auto-banned by uTorrent...REALLY PROBABLY SHOULD have a way to be saved by uTorrent so it is banned the next time we launch uTorrent. Even if that's just an optional setting disabled by default, that's a worthy goal I think!
hermanm
Bad hash is only one piece of the puzzle. Some peers may just be connecting to you just so they can report your activities to your ISP.

DreadWingKnight
Perhaps, but you have ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY no way of knowing if an IP is from an anti-p2p spy organization.Only try to block hashfail senders, they're the only ones you can really readily identify. mike2587
Are there some reliable lists made by someone? Are you using a reliable list? Make a list by myself requires too long...
