vanamor
Sorry if this is covered elsewhere, but I have not found it. Have been using utorrent with no trouble for ages until recently. Several apps...including IR and utorrent started hanging and/or were closed by Windows. I decided to format the HDD and clean-install the OS, Vista Home Premium. Since reloading utorrent, on connection to a tracker...and there have been several...I get either "Connection closed by peer" or "timed out". These have been torrents with many seeds and peers. I tried to d/l Open Office, with the same result. assuming Vista firewall to be the prob, I closed it. Still the same message from OpenOffice tracker. Then utorrent startrd hanging and I have to close it through Task Manager. I briefly loaded another client, and it downloaded OK. (Negligible ups as port forward had not been setup. But at least, it did d/l.) As utorrent is,by far, my fave client, any advice you can give to make it work again would be great. Many thanks. jewelisheaven
Some people just have troubles with iolo. Can you try uninstalling it and then installing only parts of it? I'd think it wouldn't need multiple "ioloServiceManager.exe" services though :/ Maybe you only need to turn off some services (Start->run->services.msc)
Firon
Yeah, it's likely iolo's fault. Someone else had the same problem.
vanamor
Guys...thanks for your help, but I doubt if this is the prob! I uninstalled iolo AV and the problem persisted. I rebooted into safe mode with networking, tried to d/l OpenOffice, after a few seconds got the 'Connection closed by peer' message and utorrent hung. Had to get into Task Manager to close it. All this in safe mode! This problem started before I loaded iolo...was using AVG at the time. Have tried a different modem, with same result! Have formatted drive and reloaded OS, and am still getting this happening. I must mention, IE has been shutting down occasionally too!
