Slow Down load for 1.5 DSL Qwest Line

Recommended Posts

I have my prot forwarding configured and it is working. The little green check mark is at the bottom of the screen. I have a Qwest 1.5Mb DSL line. I'm still only getting speeds of 40 to 60 Kb/s.

Any suggestions

Are you sure you're not being shaped? Have you checked the test openoffice or slackware torrents? http://slackware.com/torrents/

If you're getting these speeds while uploading, try lowering your upload by 5-10% at a time to see if it "jumps". Also try changing Ctrl-P -> BitTorrent -> Enable encryption

I have the enable encryption set to "on".

I have my upload speed set at 40 Kb/s

I'm not sure what you mean by "being shaped".

Do I down load the DVD ISO and burn a DVD then look for test openoffice or slackware torrents and run those programs to test my connection?

You don't need to download the whole thing. It's only used as a test. Running it for less than 3 minutes at a time as you change settings is plenty.

So... are you UPLOADING @ 40 right now? Is the upload line horizontal (change Speed tab to UPLOAD only and 5 or 30 seconds to see a clearer picture over time)?
