xdarklvlage
I own a netgear WGR614v7 router, and I've had trouble portforwarding it for quite some time now.In addition to the router, I have a 2Wire 1070-B Gateway (has firewall capabilities).I don't use any software firewalls and windows firewall is disabled.I followed the instructions on portfordwarding on portforward.com, created a static IP, bridged the connection on the gateway, tried different ports to forward too, and a few others that I dont really remember.I'm just wondering what I did wrong, and what I need to do to portforward correctly. Here are some pictures to give some visual help.. :\http://img380.imageshack.us/img380/9329/bridgedol2.jpghttp://img147.imageshack.us/img147/2158/ipconfigzw0.jpghttp://img525.imageshack.us/img525/8201/modenfwpfmj2.jpghttp://img233.imageshack.us/img233/1319/pfui1.jpghttp://img265.imageshack.us/img265/4153/static1cy2.jpghttp://img152.imageshack.us/img152/5236/utorphz5.jpg
Ultima
http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/4153/static1cy2.jpgThe IP address doesn't look right... Get it dynamically from "your ISP" if you've set your modem to bridged mode. Additionally, what is the Netgear's DHCP range?
xdarklvlage
I changed it to get dynamically from ISP, still no avail :\By Netgear's DHCP range, do you mean this?http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/1884/dhcprangehx4.jpgsry, I'm a bit unfamilar with some of these thingsOn another note, when I mentioned my modem has firewall capabilities, I meant it has NAT firewall capabilties. Firon
Your 2wire needs to be configured to not act as a router.
xdarklvlage
hm.. the only setting I see is DMZ mode. Would I have to set it to that?edit: okay I set it to DMZ mode (the modem), but still no avail...
Firon
Perhaps there is something like a "bridge mode" or something similar in the router config?
xdarklvlage
I don't see anything that allows me to set a "bridge mode" in the router config :\edit: I switched the router from secure NAT to open NAT... restarted modem/router/and pc... and still no avail... GTHK
Bridge mode is sometimes selectable from a drop down menu labeled "Connection Type:", if you can't find it on the 2wire, and you can portforward in it, you might be able to do it on the Netgear if it also performs NAT. xdarklvlage
I believe I did bridge my 2Wire... :\http://img380.imageshack.us/img380/9329/bridgedol2.jpgI'm pretty sure thats correct? along with that I portforwarded uTorrent in the 2Wire as well :\My netgear does perform NAT, but I dont see any "bridge mode" function anywhere... Would there be another name for it?
GTHK
On the Netgear, disabling NAT and then forwarding in the 2Wire should suffice, or chain port forwarding. Based on that weird 2Wire option (which is not bridge mode), it looks like you could give your Netgear that address and it would bypass the 2Wire, but I can't be sure. I'd go with finding the actual bridge mode in the 2Wire, or disabling NAT on the Netgear and setting the µT's computer address in the 2Wires port forward, followed by powercycling all the network gear. xdarklvlage
The Netgear is on open NAT. There's only two options for that, secured and open, and I've set it on open. I can't find anything that says bridged mode anywhere in the 2Wire... I found an option called "Bridged LLC" under ATM Encapsulation, but that's already set. Other options are Bridged VC-Mux, Routed LLC, and Routed VC-Mux. But there's not Bridged mode anywhere :\edit: I will try setting the Netgear to that IP from the LAN/IP setup... (okay this was a complete failure, I was without internet for a while)I just did a powercycle and nothing is different. I read many things on disabling uPnP on uTorrent (it already is disabled). Should I re-enable it? Since I have uPnP enabled on my router to "listen" for ports and such.
GTHK
You can't disable NAT? That's retarded, is there a bridge mode for the Netgear? Is there a "Operating Mode" on it with "Router" and "Gateway" options? Can you port forward in both devices? The simplest thing to do would be to set up port forwarding in the 2Wire to the Netgear, then the Netgear to the computer, but I'm not fond of that since it requires you to configure multiple routers. xdarklvlage
No bridge mode for Netgear either :\ There's none of the options you say either... But I can portforward in both devices. I did do the multiple portforward and it still doesn't work. The 2Wire implements a system based on what it's connected to, so there's a connection for "cpu123" (the name of my computer, which means a direct connection from computer to modem) and theres "WGR614v7" (which is when its connected to the router). I set up a portfordward for uTorrent the "WGR614v7" setting from the 2Wire and a portforward from the Netgear router itself. Yet it still doesnt work :\
GTHK
Maybe the 2Wires setup program on the web interface? Otherwise, if you really need a second router, I can only suggest purchasing a replacement component, preferable a DSL modem, and one that can bridge. Maybe you can bug your ISP to replace the gateway with a suitable modem.
