Port suddenly not open

I've been using uTorrent for quite some time now. In this entire time, I've never had a problem with my port forwarding.

I have a Linksys WRK54G, and have properly forwarded the correct ports in order to have incoming connections to uTorrent. I know for a fact I've forwarded correctly. Especially since it had been working, then suddenly, I got the stupid yellow flag.

I have no firewall software running. My ISP is Embarq DSL. I'm running Vista with an AMD 64 x2 processor, but I have previously had open connections with this computer. I hadn't changed a thing, and out of nowhere, both the uTorrent port checker and canyouseeme.org say the port is not forwarded. I've tried resetting the router, changing ports, etc. I know I have it forwarded to the correct static IP, as well. I even went as far as to restore my router to factory defaults, to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I'd like to add that I'm on a laptop. I just tried to forward a port on a desktop, and both port checkers claim the port is not open. Leads me to believe it's either my router, modem (Embarq EQ-660R), or ISP, seeing as those seem to be the only other possiblities, haha.

EDIT 2: Just got uTorrent 1.8 Beta. It is now a red circle, indicating I am not connectable, yet I still have connections to peers.

Guess your other thread didn't help? Anyway, you have a double NAT, read my guide, bridge mode on the Embarq if you can, otherwise, on the Linksys and port forward in the Embarq. If you have questions or problems (such as not working, or required modes not available on either) post again, and in detail.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Am I going to need PPPoA/E, or does bridge mode work without it?

If not, I will need to inquire my ISP as to a username and password, correct?

I attempted to turn off NAT on my modem, but I lost my connection to my modem and had to do a hard reset. I also found the bridge mode capability in WAN Setup, but there were many fields I was unsure about. I do know there were two encapsulation modes in bridge mode, one being PPPoA.

IF your modem has PPPoA/PPPoE set, then you need to use it in the Linksys, otherwise, just change the modem to bridge mode. Disabling NAT wont work since you can only get one address at a time, bridge mode will shift the responsibility to the other device. Be sure to power cycle. Finally, it should be something like "Connection Type:" and then bridge mode, no other options. If you can't do it in your Embarq, do it in your Linksys and port forward on the Embarq.

If you do have PPPoA/PPPoE and you can forward in your Embarq, and don't have your login crap, then just be lazy and use bridging on the Linksys :P.

Haven't tried PPPoA/E, yet. I still haven't contacted my ISP about the username and password, which I need to set it up on either my modem or router.

However, I did try to make my router act as a switch by disabling DHCP and setting its IP outside of the modem's DHCP range. Then I forwarded the port on my modem to my computer's new IP on the modem's subnet, and I still could not get any connections.

I decided to try to hardwire my computer straight to the modem and try the forwarding. Lo and behold, with the ports forwarded straight to my computer, I still could not receive any connections. canyouseeme.org said the connection timed out. Then after cycling the modem, it said connection refused. Does this help any?

Not good then, define your network topology, and in your modems status page check your IP, give me the first two fields. Also make sure you forwarded correctly to the µT port UDP and TCP.

Example of network topology definition using mine: WebSTAR DPC2100R2 [modem] > Linksys WRT54G w/ DD-WRT [router] > Computers and Nintendo DS's.

Zxyel EQ-660R [modem] > Linksys WRK54G [router] > 4 computers (2 LAN, 2 WLAN)

Also, what exactly were you looking for on the modem's status page?

The IP address of the modem? Static or the dynamic WAN IP? Please clarify.

Thanks for the help.

Post the first half of your WAN/Internet IP according to the Zxyel, and the gateway address. Also check canyouseeme to see if the IP there matches the modem.
