lister
I am on a latop running Vista Home Premium, every time I start Utorrent (after starting Vista) it gives the popup saying it's freeware. Is there any way to stop this? Doesn't happen on my XP pc or laptop.
Firon
When you change network adapters (even just by disabling one), the popup happens again. 1.8 has a fix for this.
lister
1.8... not the betas then? Coz I still get the popup.
Firon
Yes, the beta. Be sure you're on the latest build (and the only authoritative place with them is the announcements subforum).
lister
I'm using v1.8 beta (build 10198) and still getting the popup every time after booting up.Maybe a setting somewhere?
jewelisheaven
Then you either have a different problem or you're not saving settings on close. In your settings.dat you will see "CID" and "OLDCIDS" .. I would recommend using http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=31306 to copy and compare the data.. and compare them. It appears every unique instance of CID is backed up to OLDCIDS (each entry is 24 bytes)
Firon
if it didn't shutdown properly, you'll probably continue to get it.
lister
Well, I shutdown utorrent the same way on my XP pc as on the Vista laptop (red X) and it doesn't popup. How can I shut it down properly? Is there a setting that needs changed to run on Vista that allows for utorrent to shut down properly! Ultima
Preferences > Advanced > bt.graceful_shutdown
lister
No, that doesn't work (though when it's set to 'true' it has a star next to it).Plus, (when it's set) if I then try to shut down, it brings up a notice about task scheduler waiting for programs to shut down. Which is more annoying than the popup. lol!
Firon
You need to be patient for it to close... it can take a while.
lister
Ok, takes about 20 seconds til I can shutdown Vista with 'bt.graceful_shutdown' enabled and still get freeware warning. Is there an old version that doesn't have the freeware popup? DreadWingKnight
http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=11601Fix whatever's causing the problem rather than try to hide behind something that's unsupported.
jewelisheaven
I provided information you can check yourself... did you check it? Is your settings.dat being overwritten? jewelisheaven
Could you go back and downgrade on 1.8 please... recreate the condition and maybe even just sent your settings.dat to the developers?? If you cannot use an old settings on the new 1.8 it needs to be established and understood.... similar to the resetting of the logging options which were implemented previously in 1.
