adc5155
I'm downloading a 4.78 GB file onto a portable hard drive W/ 100 GB free, but it stops at the first piece because of "Insufficient space on the disk." Any help?
DreadWingKnight
Convert to NTFS. FAT32 has a per-file limit of 4GB.
adc5155
Can't. It's 150 GB of Info compiled over 13 months, and it's the only Storage Device I have that can handle that much info.

adc5155
Ah.I was under the impression that I had to format my Hard drive before I could do that.Edit:The forum is saying that I'm trying to double post despite the fact that I am not, so I'll inform you in here.My command Prompt is telling me that it "cannot CONVERT volume on the device". jewelisheaven
fat->ntfs , no. ntfs->fat yes: conditionally. Using MS tools you must format, using third party tools you can convert. However you lose all features of NTFS such as ACL and alternate streams. Additionally you need to have more free space (something like 15%, instead of recommended 10%) due to the layout changes. adc5155
"cannot CONVERT volume on this device"All I can say beyond that is that it's FAT32 file system, not FAT.
