gdrake1
First I'm aware that routers not modems normally block ports but somehow the motorola SB5120 modem does. I tried everything including removing the router completely to open ports without luck. Then I swapped Modems and installed a Toshiba modem beloning to a friend using the same ISP and utorrent with no problems. Guess what my ports are now open and his (with the Motorola) are now closed. No other changes except the Modem swap. So anybody know why this is happening and is there a way to fix it? or just toss the motorola and buy something different? Jaggwuzzt
I'm having the same problem with a motorola SB5100 Surfboard cable modem, does anyone know what to do?
Ultima
Search the forum for motorola or surfboard*, and you'll find a ton of results indicating that SurfBoards, indeed, do cause port forwarding issues, despite the fact that they're "only" modems. Ditch the modem and get another one not from Motorola.
