Kaiko
I had to reboot my computer because it froze up (holding down the power button) and when I rebooted it, ALL my downloads went away! What the heck O_o anyone know how I can recover them?
kiwi888
Yes, I had this happen last night (xmas eve). My pc froze up after switching users. I also had to hold the power button down to get the pc to turn off. This is the first time I've ever had my files disappear (I built my pc in 2003). Not only that, when I click FILE, ADD TORRENT, it opens my folder where I keep them and WONT ADD ANY of them back. It doesn't seem to recognize the files. I added a file so I could finish seeding, and it began downloading it as if I didn't have it! When I run my cursor over files in the "add torrent" box, it says the correct file size for all my previously downloaded files.I've tried checking for errors and even a system restore to before this happened. I'm still searching through the forums/faqs for anything I may have missed. Any ideas would be appreciated. Interesting problem. :/
Firon
Are you using auto-load and/or setting the torrent storage folder by any chance? Also, you're using "Put new downloads in:". Use File -> Add (no default save) so you can choose the correct folder for those files you wanted to seed.Next time it disappears, immediately close µT, delete resume.dat in %AppData%\uTorrent, and rename resume.dat.old to resume.dat (won't work this time). Kaiko
So does that mean I have to "Put new downloads in:" into a specific folder to help it not happen again, or to NOT make a default path for it to put it and prompt it each time? I prompt it each time
Firon
No, I mean, if you're using that option, you have to use Add (no default save) to bypass it and specify a different folder.Make sure that you point it to the folder ABOVE the torrent data's folder!ie torrent makes a folder named SomeShow 1x09 HDTV and it's located in C:\Torrents, you would point µTorrent to C:\Torrents, NOT C:\Torrents\SomeShow 1x09 HDTVGet it? kiwi888
Thank you. My settings had changed after that freeze-up. I noticed when I opened utorrent, it would open right up instead of going straight to my tray.
