nFuriate
Hey guys. Not been getting a green light at all. I've tried many different ports, with my current one at 28964, but no matter what port I use it still shows up as being closed. I've forwarded it correctly on my router (using portforward.com) and don't have windows firewall or any other firewall turned on. Help!
GTHK
What does the port tester say? What is your network status (highlight the icon at the bottom, the message and the color)? What AV? In your router, what are the numbers in the first two fields of WAN IP address? What networking gear are you using (make/model)?
nFuriate
Port tester says:Welcome to the µTorrent Port Checker.A test will be performed on your computer to check if the specified port is opened.Checking port 28964 on *my dynamic ip address*...Error! Port 28964 does not appear to be open. Please see www.portforward.com for more information about how to map a port. Please make absolutely sure that PeerGuardian2 or Protowall is allowing utorrent.com (72.20.34.145) in either of those programs. Those of you using ipfilter.dat should make sure the list does not include the website's IP. After making sure of this, re-run this test by refreshing the page (F5).The colour of the button is Red with an exclamation mark which when hovered over says "Listen error, you should change the listen port". I don't know what AV means sorry. For my inbound and outbound firewall rules for uTorrent my wan ip address acceptance is "Any". I can't find anything else relating to wan ip address except to setup a wan.ThanksMy router is the Netgear DG834GT.
Ultima
Listening error means another application is using the port you're trying to listen on. Try another port (as the error message indicates).AV means antivirus. Is the Netgear the only router you're using?
Sainty
Uninstall and re-install uTorrent to reset all settings. Then, setup a static IP on your computer. Forward the port from your modem to your router, and from your router to your static IP. This worked for me when I had the same problem.
nFuriate
Welcome to the µTorrent Port Checker.A test will be performed on your computer to check if the specified port is opened.Checking port 41273 on *ip address*...OK! Port 41273 is open and accepting connections. You will be able to receive incoming BitTorrent connections. Thanks a bunch Sainty! Followed your instructions, used google to find out how to make a static IP. Forwarded it on my router. And now every port I enter claims to be open! (before every port I entered, no matter what, would be closed!)And just for saying, I have no antivirus or firewall software at all. I hate those damn things! My computer has survived without it for ages. The only thing those programs do is cause hastle for games and programs such as uTorrent, always asking me whether to accept a connection blah blah. Heh, just my opinion of course.Time to see if I can connect to more seeds and improve my speed ^.^Cheers!
