jaikai Posted December 27, 2005 Report Posted December 27, 2005 hi all, i had µtorrent running thru the night and pulled something like 600+MB. now i know 512/128 aint the dux but in my part of the world its more than most can access/afford...anyways im thinking for 4x the price ($39.99) per month, this is a sweet deal. no way i was gonna get 12gig worth on unlimited dial-up even D/L all day. best deal we had going was $10- unlimited round here (dial-up). you reckon im better off not bothering to get rid of this NAT error i still got? i tried it all so far...no luck. i tried that openoffice.org proggie...speed blew me away, total D/L speed was 50+ and i was still looking up forums for learning and stuff. iwas stoked.SOO...am i doing OK for the time or what.....?JAIKAI
Firon Posted December 27, 2005 Report Posted December 27, 2005 Cap your upload to 9.And fixing your NAT error would help a lot with speeds.Do you have a firewall, and are you on Windows XP SP2? I guess you're behind a router too?
jaikai Posted December 27, 2005 Author Report Posted December 27, 2005 windows xp, service pack 2. d-link dsl 502t modem/router. windows firewall is disabled. Mcafee AV. the router prolly runs a firewall...will cap upload. my settings are configured to those as advised elsewhere on the forum. see what happens when you say cap upload to 9, do you mean in the seeding priority: limit upload rate to.....mines set at 5 currently, i`ll try it now.JAIKAI
Switeck Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 Firon meant upload max SPEED to 9 KB/sec.McAfee AV may be a version that may include a software firewall as well which can interfere with µTorrent.
jaikai Posted December 28, 2005 Author Report Posted December 28, 2005 ah right... sorry but im new to this biz, did that and didnt really affect things too much. uninstalled McAfee and still NAT error...basically thinking im doing better than i was though, the files i want arent all that popular as in no late release stuff. D/L 75 meg, U/L 65meg in last 2 hrs. that aint all that bad.jroc give me a ton of time and help with the NAT error biz but its still there...JAIKAI
Switeck Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 Your cable/DSL modem may have a mini-router in it that needs configuring so you don't get a NAT error.Either look it up yourself or tell us the brand so we can "Google" it.
jaikai Posted December 29, 2005 Author Report Posted December 29, 2005 D-link dsl502t. looked it up and did the port forward to the letter. NATcheck says the port is closed...dunno. thanks anyways. if anyone wants to look into it id be very grateful.JAIKAI
Firon Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 D-Link routers blow, virtual server function is useless (as is the router). YOu have to create a direct firewall rule.
jaikai Posted December 29, 2005 Author Report Posted December 29, 2005 yeah, i havent heard great things about them but im fairly new to the world of broadband...my phone company has a fair deal going for 12gig plan bundled with my landline, the modem`s free. spose i`ll use it `til it dies. anyways, could you help me out with creating a direct firewall rule? would much apreciate it.JAIKAI

jaikai Posted December 29, 2005 Author Report Posted December 29, 2005 thanks mate but it did`nt help. i get a different set of options completely...i did disable upnp in both µtorrent and the router firewall. see if anything changes.JAIKAI
