Ports are forwarded but I still have a connection problem

Hello, I have a Netgear FVS318v3 router. I have tested many different ports and I am sure I forwarded them correctly in both my router and firewall. However, I still get a red "!" in uTorrent telling me that I need to open ports. I have tested my ports on several different port checkers and they all say its blocked. Please don't just tell me to go to portforward.com, because I know I forwarded my ports correctly.

You sure you set a static IP for your computer and then forwarded to the correct IP?

What firewall is this? Have you ensured that your modem does not also function as a router (which is easy to do if your current router has a status page, since it'll show you the IP the router has assigned).

Yes I'm sure my modem does not function as a router, and I know I forwarded the ports to the right IP. However, portforward.com gives instructions on how to forward ports on the FVS318v2, not v3, so maybe there's something I'm missing when I try to forward my ports. I tried looking on the Netgear site but they seem to think that v2 and v3 have the same layout (even though they don't).

just got a netgear router.DG834Gv4.virgin sent me it to prevent me going to tiscali.seems to be set up ok.my DL speed are slow to non existant however.they also dropped price and i wonder if they have reduced my service ( they said it should be same as before ).

anyway utorrent is an exception under firewall.port must be open as upload speed is 30kbps on a torrent that prev reached 100% that i havent saved yet to another folder.

speed prev was fine.so my questions are.

1/do i need to change port number now ive got wireless router.2/ do i need to set up static address and if so why as i havent done previously.3/anything i can do to improve things?

universal plug/play is checked under router login.

Anyway any help from the experts would be appreciated to get me back on track.
