utorrent wont login

Hi every one, I'm new to this so please beer with me.

I have been using utorrent for a couple of years now and have never had any problems until last week. I started up utorrent and it wouldn't login and then froze solid on me, had to do cltr, alt del to shut it down and it's been like that ever since. I'm not the only one having the same problems, several of my friends are having the exact same problems as me.

I have checked the settings and they all seem to be ok, checked the firewall and that is set to allow, not sure what else to check. I have uninstalled and removed all files and then re-installed but the same thing happens. Out of curiosity I installed another bittorrent client and that worked ok but it's not utorrent.

My PC is running vista ultimate with 4gig ram, have been using utorrent on this PC for about 3 months with no probs before this i was using XP.

Any one else having the same trouble?

has any one any idea what is going on

Thanks for getting back to me.

I have Zone alarm firewall, never had a problem with this and utorrent, iolo anti virus and ad aware.

What I don't understand is why some of my friends are having the same problems as well, one is using XP pro with NTL broadband I use Vista with NTL broadband another friend has XP home with Orange broadband, we all have a similar set up, 2 of us have Zone alarm and iolo the other has zone alarm and AVG.

I hope this makes sense any help with this would be appreciated

ZA has been known to do some stupid things though.

I'd recommend uninstalling it (at least temporarily for troubleshooting).

Thanks for that, I suppose zone alarm is the common link between my self and my friends. What firewall would you recommend?

Firstly.. uninstalling ZA, does it fix the problem?? If not, you can keep installed.

I will uninstall ZA some time tomorrow and let you know what happens

I have uninstalled ZA and it didn't make any differance, still wont login and still freezing, had to do ctrl alt del again, did manage to check port forwarding and that reported as being ok.

I remembered that I had opera 9.5 on my PC which has a bit torrent prog built into it so I uninstalled it as well just in case that was causing a conflict but that didn't help at all.

One thing I did notice was that what ever file I try to download utorrent reports that the trackers are off line or invalid url and it seems to have trouble updateing. Oh well tomorrows another day.

a) get HijackThis from trendsecure.com, run it, view the log, and post the contents here

get Process Explorer from sysinternals.com, run it, Ctrl+D (to show the lower DLL pane), select the µTorrent process from the list, Ctrl+S (and save the list somewhere you'll find easily -- like the Desktop), then post the contents of the saved process list in the .txt file here

I have tried using utorrent with out iolo and it made no difference , in fact I have tried with no firewall and no AV.

Are you sure you have Comodo configured properly? http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=292343#p292343

There's configuration instructions in that thread.

Hi, I have only just put comodo onto my PC, the trouble I'm having started before that. I'm now trying to remove comodo and I'm having a night mare with it, Iv uninstalled it but it seems it's still running, security centre says it still there any way once I manage to remove it I will let you know if it makes any difference to utorrent.

Have finely managed to uninstall comodo, thats one difficult program to get to get rid off.

It seems that it hasn't made any difference to what is going on with utorrent.

I have just uninstalled utorrent and rebooted and then re-installed in the hope this might sort it out but im afraid it made no difference what so ever, have now run out of ideas!!!!!!

Still haveing the same problems. I have tried all the things that have been surgested and I'm getting no where fast. The last thing I did was to set up some rules for comodo V3. I did this with the help of another thread that I found on the forum and I hate to say it but it has made no differance. I found a music torrent to download, I got it into utorrent and utorrent stoped responding, wouldn't login wouldn't do any thing.

Have tried different firewals/ AV's but nothing changes, so have gone back to what I had to start of with.
