sean1992
Hi im new here and i hav a serious prob wif utorrent the 1st time i try it.im from malaysia and my internet service provider is streamyx, tmnet (broadband 512kbps)but using utorrent i can only get speeds like 2kb/s-7kb/sI know that the isp is doing something with the speed bcoz i saw tat i hav plenty of seeders connected (about 20+)I tried enabling protocol encryption, even tried changing it to Forced but the speed doesn't go up.Now, the most confusing thing is , i can get maximum speed from Bitcomet (around 50kb/s), which tells me my internet connection has the potential to get so fast, but the utorrent seems to don't want to speed up, or can't speed up to that speed.I feel that the utorrent is faster than Bitcomet in connecting to peers and seeds than Bitcomet is, so thats why I wanted to switch to utorrent, but now i am encountering this prob. So now i think the problem lies at my isp throttling utorrent, but not blocking bC, but how do i bypass it? Is there a way? If no, how come bC can bypass it while utorrent can't? Ultima
Try µTorrent 1.8 if you haven't already done so.
sean1992
I tried utorrent 1.8.0 with the slackware torrent (highspeed)i get 7 connected seeds and my speed is 0.1kb/s - 3.8kb/safter I enable encryption the speed get even more pathetic (0.1kb/s - 0.3kb/s)
Ultima
Unfortunately, there may not be much you can do about it then (at least not with µTorrent). For whatever reason, BitComet has been known to get around some cases of throttling better than µTorrent can (in particular, for users in Asian countries). Dunno. Switeck
BitComet gets around the throttling better because it uses "LT seeds" which are disguised HTTP uploading seeds. Sadly, that doesn't make it better at managing its settings, as last I heard it had SEVERE issues with not obeying its own half open max limit. ...or managing upload slots/upload speeds in a reasonable manner. (generally making it bad at seeding)
