Doubl3 Helix
I am using the uTorrent 1.8 beta. I upgraded from 1.5 to 1.6. to 1.7.7 and then to 1.8 to see if it was something with the software. That didn't work. I get most of my torrents from isohunt.com. None of the trackers work. I have tried a torrent from Demonoid and that didn't work. All the trackers just say "Offline (Timed out)." I have my port forwarded on my router and have my windows firewall turned off. Here are my specs:ISP: Wadsnet (Local Broadband provider)Connection Speed: 256k CableModem: Motorola SurfboardRouter: Linksys WRT54G firmware v1.02.0TCP/IP patch: yes, set to unlimited with xp-AntispyFirewalls: None, XP firewall turned off. AVG antivirus has none.uTorrent Settings: Port: 37967 Enable UPnP Port mapping Enable NAT-PMP Mapping Enable DHT Enable Peer Discovery Protocol Encryption: Enabled (allows Legacy Connections) Max Halfopens:
DreadWingKnight
Does the problem persist with torrents from http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/ ?
Doubl3 Helix
Yes, DreadWingKnight, the problem does indeed still persist. For the first time in a long time today, I have a list of peers and seeds on some of my torrents. No transfer, and the tracker status for all of them is still "offline (timed out)". DreadWingKnight
Max Halfopens: 30And why do you think that this is helping?http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=15992
Doubl3 Helix
Okay, I set the max half-open back to the original 8. I also un-patched my tcpip.sys so that it's back to the original 10. So far, this is not doing much, but I will wait and see. Thank you for your help.
Firon
Try disabling DHT and other stuff.
Doubl3 Helix
Okay, I disabled DHT and Local Peer Discovery. Sadly, this seemed to do absolutely nothing...im up for any other suggestions.
Firon
Reboot the router and your computer. You may wanna lower half-open to less, like 4.
Doubl3 Helix
I set the half-open to 4. I rebooted everything (computer, router, modem). Problem seems to still be there...I have no idea what the problem is.
petercat
I have the same problem, and I'm using the latest stable version (1.7.7)Any other ideas? This is so frustrating!
Switeck
Do note that your upload speed is what ultimately decides what settings work best in uTorrent.Even if your download speed is 256 kilobits/second, your upload speed may be a tiny fraction of that! petercat
Thanks for replying, but I'm a bit lost as to what that has to do with all my trackers suddenly showing offline when they've worked fine for months. Could you explain a bit more, please?
Doubl3 Helix
I'm not entirely sure why my connection speed would determine the functioning of the trackers. Would you mind to elaborate?
DreadWingKnight
If you have no bandwidth available to make requests to trackers, they won't work.
petercat
Ah, I see! Sorry for being so dense. Well, it's definitely not that. I tested my upload speed without uTorrent running and it's fine
Doubl3 Helix
Yes, of course. However, trackers used to work, and there is bandwidth available. I'm up for any suggestions.
petercat
After 2 days of not working, mine have suddenly come back!
Doubl3 Helix
I wish I could say the same petercat. Did you happen to do anything before it started working again?
petercat
I just tried restarting uTorrent for the umpteenth time and it happened.
